Default Too Newbie to Attend??????

I found out that there is going to be a belly dance conference in Ocean City Md. at the end of March. I'm so psyched and I wanna go! BUT------I've only been taking classes since October. Am I too much a newbie to take the workshops??? Will they be too advanced for me at this stage??? Are they more geared toward the advanced students??? Should I dance a few more years before daring to take a class at one of these events????

Could you contact the organizers and ask about the level? Or does it say anything in the description of the classes. Technique and combination classes could be very beneficial. Some choreography workshops can be frustrating if you are an inexperienced dancer as they could go through the choreo very fast and not explain the movements at all.

If you have the money and are able to go, it could also be an amazing experience. To be surronded by loads of people that LOVES bellydance is fantastic

Every event is different, so definitely contact the organizer. I think you should jump in and do it. Even if the classes are challenging, you'll be inspired. Festivals are wonderful experiences.

Well.....taking a really deep breath here......I'm doing it! I'm going to the "Art of the Belly" in Ocean City! Hubby paid for my room for 2 nights. I still gotta reserve workshops. I'll probably do that in the next 2 days when I don't have to worry about work. I won't be able to afford A LOT of classes, ( I'm planning on bringing a cooler with sandwiches so I have more $$$$ to spend on sparklies. ) Morocco is going to be teaching and Naimah and I want to attend classes by both if I can possibly work it. I'm going by myself-----so far. I hope that changes though. Walking into an event like this alone seems a little intimidating right now but I'm willing to get over it.

I'm so EXCITED, (scared) EXCITED (nervous) PSYCHED!!!!!

Anyone else going?????

YAY!!!! Good for you!! You will love it and if the dance community there is anything like it is here u won't be on ur own for long! Morocco came to west Oz 2 yrs ago and I took every single workshop she offered. Omg she is amazing and even if u don't dance a single step with her u learn so much and are so inspired listening to her. I hope u have a great time!!!!

I'm taking one of her classes!

:

Also found 3 other people to share a room with to cut down on the cost.

I'm gonna be hoarding $$$$$$ like Scrooge until then for sparklies! I hope I don't miss any days of work from now till then due to snow or getting sick.

We have a snowstorm going through tonite and I'm supposed to work tomorrow.

Even if you can't follow everything, you are guaranteed to get something out of it. I have yet to attend a workshop that I did not experience something worthwhile no matter what level I was at.
