That's one HIGH slit on such a short skirt! I have to say though, the feathers make a great contrast with the fabric color.

I like the way the feathers are arranced on top of the skirt, but I agree it looks like the "real" skirt is missing....

Meddevi, that costume is wonderful! And looking at your pics, I realised that the peacock colours are so wonderfully deep and intensive that they would actually fit different colours - both costume- and skin-and-hair-wise.

Ok I don't mean to be a brat......but......I have seen a peacock feather costume and worked with one and any sweat at all causes them to clump together and get nasty. Feathers just don't hold up well at all. Although Jillina has a costume with some feathers hanging from fringe on the skirt - but that doesn't come into contact with sweat.
I think whatever you make with peacock feathers directly on the bra or belt will look awesome but don't expect to wear it more than a dozen times. Good luck!

From this past weekend's "Bellydance Fantasy Concert" in NYC by Venus Uprising...here's a brighter photo of the costume and a better view of the skirts, etc..

And does one molt as opposed to strip when arrayed in a costume such as this?

I miss the "costumes of questionable taste" thread that the politically correct and socially sensitive among us abhored as cruel and snide. It was instructive as well as funny. I acknowledge that one person's disaster is another person's glamour, but the costume with the stuffed arms encircling the hips as a hip band was exquisitely tacky.
