    EVERYTHING. -_- My teacher tells me all my movements are tooooo tiny, reserved, and internalized, and I need to make them bigger. But when I try, I look ridiculous, and lose my balance. -_- The only exception I've ever had were my "hops" in one particular dance. We're supposed to bounce to the beat 3 times in four sets while turning in place (if that makes sense). My beginner intermediate teacher had told me make my bounce BIIIG, so instead of bouncing with the balls of my feet still planted on the floor, I would launch myself in the air in bunny hops. xD Apparently, my BI teacher never noticed this, but my present teacher DID notice about a couple of months ago when we went through the dance with her. There we were, standing in our little "chorus line" line, and everyone else was doing normal bounces, while I was making the Easter Bunny look bad!

    But anywho, yyyyyeah...

    They're really beautiful. I find that I do them best when I have a prop to "guide" me (veil, fan veils, isis wings, or cane), although even then I sometimes screw them up. Without props though... ugh. Never works out the way I want them to.

    Put me in with the flutters too, and I've never been a lover of barrel turns because even though I spot, I still have trouble with getting dizzy (probably fatigue because I never know when to sit still). And Turkisn Drop - it is never going to happen!

    I have no desire ever to do a flutter. I have them filed under "party tricks"

    I'm afraid to even try a Turkish drop. I like watching others do them...but I fear doing one myself..

    Though I was "everything" today. I haven't been belly dancing regularly...so I'm out of practice...and I put on some Hossam Ramzy music...starting dancing...and I stunk. Everything was awkward...my transitions were over thought...I kept trying to drill moves instead of dancing in response to the music. Pretty much if you can do it wrong in belly dance...I did it today.

    It's hard for me to explain in words what a Turkish drop is, so here is a video of Rachel Brice (from her Tribal Fusion Bellydance instructional DVD), who popularized this move. She does it at 1:44:

    Here is Moira Chappell using the same move at 2:37 in her second performance on the Tribal Fusions DVD:

    Mind you, a Turkish drop is a dangerous move. Rachel has broken her toes before doing this move, so it's not recommended to learn it, unless you're a stubborn little dancer like me (and is fortunate enough to have a teacher who's a former physical therapist). However, I don't do the Turkish Drop---I do what I call "American Plummet-To-The-Floor." @________@;;;

    An American Plummet! Farasha, I LOVE you!

    Hmm. Maybe we could add variations like a Spanish Splat, a Canadian Crash, or a British Faceplant. Any of these could immediately be followed by that famous move, the Australian Crawl.

    I'll second that. 3/4 travelling is okay, but the one where you kind of do two hips bumps to each step messes me up.

    Oh belly flutters two, I sometimes practice those half heartedly, in the hope that maybe one day my brain and body will somehow connect and I will magically be able to do them.

    One more, those little hops while travelling backwards, like you get in saiidi sometimes. I don't know why, but I have heaps of trouble with them, which annoys me because I like the energy they add and I think they look cute.
