I watched your video a couple of more times, and I can't see anything really wrong with your technique that jumps out at me. Your style reminds me a bit of Cassandra Fox, a dancer I adore. I did have some trouble because the web site you have your video on was choppy (our internet isn't all that great), but it was enough for me to see your dancing. I guess it depends on what your area judges are looking for (I don't enter in bellydance competitions). :( Plus, I think I would have to see the performances of the dancers who score higher to get an idea of what the judges might be looking for. Maybe someone here who has participated in competitions can advise you better than I can. :)

Hi Annet, you have a nice dance style. Obviously you have been dancing for some time ... but ... it is very important to match your music, moves and costume. This music is very Egyptian yet the style is too non-Egyptian. Not sure if your influences are Turkish or American but definitely not Egyptian. Further it is sha`bi - not orientale so the costume grates too. At best as "belly dance" sha`bi can be done as folkloric - real sha`bi isn't really for stage. And never in a bra and belt.
If I was judging I would penalize you heavily for not understanding your music and inappropriate costuming. Or possibly the judges consider sha`bi totally inappropraiet for a belly dance compeition.

thank you, girls.
Kashmir, it's really shaabi and saidi ))) I know, shaabi isn't in the bra and belt, but I haven't the folk costume . It's my mistake.
In my region dancers show shaabi in a special bellydance category of the compition. Kashmir, why do you think that my style is too non-Egyptian? This dance is from Egyptian dancer. I danced in the category of "Stage dance" which allowed a mismatch of the suit, the mixture of details and styles in music. However, I tried to convey Egyptian Oriental SHAABI (it was so named by the dancer-choreographer, I don't remember her name). But thanks for your opinion )))

Hi Annett - when you say "Egyptian dancer" do you mean born and performing in Egypt? or someone with an interest? For me it's the big moves, the chest pops, the chest circles, the big arm movements, the fast pelvic drops, the turkish tilting hip circles, and the predicble symmetry (two on the left, two on the right), - all scream "Turkish" to me.
Yes, I see a nod to shaabi with the knives early on; but then it goes orientale; then adds cane! Egyptian tends to eek out as much as it can from the music rather than throwing in lots of different props and styles in such a short time (unless it is a mejance - and that tends to be longer and the prelude to a longer piece)

She is Egyptian.
I understood your opinion. I am pleased, cause all my mistakes are :dress, moves )))) But i don't agree that it's the mejance. the mejance never includes shaabi. May be it's only a stage choregraphie.
and the predicble symmetry (two on the left, two on the right)
Oh, this is an individual preference. at my rigion the dance hasn't to be symmetrical in any style. In that case, the dance is borring and.... low points for dancer.....

Language mismatch. I meant mejance is one of the few times you'll get this. I agree this is not one. Never, never sha`bi :)

If I went to an event and saw this performance, I would find it entertaining. I don't know what else you are looking for. I would describe it as total fusion as, in my own experience, it really isn't classical anything but a combination of different types of movements taken from many dance types. Otherwise, I don't know what else to say, except the visuals are pleasant.
