Hello from a returning belly dancer

Hello everyone! I used to belly dance as a hobby many years ago, but I consider myself a newbie with memories of past dancing abilities rather than skilled at all, because it has been so long. I was self-taught before, and will be self-taught again due to issues stemming from a disability. (I can dance, but I don't have any depth perception and cannot drive.) I am also on a low income and cannot always Uber to get places.

At this point, I am not sure what style I would like to learn. In the past, all I was interested in was American cabaret, but now I'm interested in tribal/fusion as well. I have a thick figure (proud BBW), and am interested in learning about thick/plus sized belly dancers.

Welcome indeed. Some of the very BEST dancers I've seen have been BBWs - you go girl! There are teachers nowadays that do lessons over Skype - the feedback is invaluable from a live instructor.

If you don't mind my asking, what's up with your depth perception? I have monocular vision and am told that my depth perception is compromised - I have no way of knowing as its "normal" to me, but it doesn't stop me from driving. Playing ball games such as baseball never worked for me though...

-My depth perception mainly seems to effect me when I drive...that's why I don't do it. My eye doctor told me I had absolutely no depth perception. It feels normal to me too. I have apparently never had it. But I can't follow the lines on the road if I drive faster than about ten miles per hour.

Interesting - I've never had probs driving - if we ever meet in person, we can compare notes.
