Sorry for the long delay! Hip circles are exactly where I am noticing the flat foot thing most. We never realize how much our feet can affect things unless something is not quite right!

Thank you for your response! The exercises I refer to did seem to come from ballet forums. It's annoying for me when I feel like I'm teetering inwards on my feet when I'm moving. But, feeling pretty confident that I won't be belly dancing professionally, I will just deal with it, LOL. I was...
Hello Dancers!
This is kind of a weird question, but here goes...
I have flat feet and sometimes when I'm dancing, I feel like they're affecting my movements. I was reading that there are exercises dancers can do to strengthen flat feet. Has anyone else found that their feet affect their dancing...
Funny I was wondering about just rolling the skirts at the waist. I've done that with some floor length skirts I have for every day wear before. Oh, the struggles of being a short girl! LOL.
Yes, I found a skirt that might work for me.
And yes, all the fitting problems you just described are maddening. I have wanted to learn to sew for a while now. It looks like it's going to be a quieter summer than usual so this might be the perfect time. Making my own clothes has always seemed...
Thank you for the avalanche! :D
I like the idea of what can't you dance to as a good guideline. Youtube has been a pretty good resource thus far. Belly dance is such a fun and fascinating realm with so much variety!
I was actually wondering about that issue myself. I found something that might work for me on a website, so we shall see. I do want to learn to sew well though.
Thank you for your detailed response! I don't think I will ever go pro, so I just do what feels good. :)
Also, do you happen to know what music was traditionally used with cabaret style?
It's kinda hard for me to say. I think I prefer cabaret style and costuming, though I do admire improvising which seems to be more of a tribal thing, but please correct me if I'm wrong about that! I just want to enjoy what I'm doing! :)
Thank you, Prince Ali Baba! I also have learned a lot from instructional videos. I took some classes with two different teachers a few years back as well that were so much fun. I really slacked off, but I want to get back into dancing and tone up!
