Dear All,
I am very proud to announce that Morocco, the one and only, will be in Athens to give an 11-hour weekend workshop in the Shantom House of Culture, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 October 2006, from 16.00 to 22.00, teaching authentic Egyptian style Raqs Sharqi technique through four choreographed pieces: an upbeat routine, a slow, flowing, romantic one, a zills routine and a cane routine. Early bird discounts applicable.

Full details here:

For those of you who cannot read Greek, you can e-mail for information at this address: info@shantala.gr
The workshop will of course be held in English (with Greek translation where needed), so international visitors are more than welcome!!!

Thanks, but...

Thank you, Maria sweetie,
but I won't "relax" till it's over, so let's wait and keep our fingers crossed. What I'm aiming at is getting here 17 to 22 people of such level that enables them to follow (more or less) the same lesson, who won't feel cheated or disappointed at the end, who will feel they got their money's worth and more, and will be asking for a repeat.
Will this dream become true? It remains to be seen.

In the meanwhile, I'm falling into exactly the same trap as you have: meaning I'm putting long long extra hours -without any pay-, just for the pleasure of having her in front of me and watching her and listening to her and sucking as a sponge as much as I can (and she won't allow any videos or pictures to be taken by the students attending, so we should make sure our eyes and ears become cameras and tape recorders!!!)

Oh well... I can't wait!

xxx

Another one

Many beginning-intermediate dancers called me asking for a workshop or class for them. I thought it was fair and Morocco agreed to give a three-hour class on Friday morning, "all levels". I'm very happy! The class will NOT be a choreography, but a real class, with a focus on basic correct Egyptian technique of hip articulations, and also a focus on the differences among Egyptian, Turkish, Lebanese, American styles.
