    Default Ululating

    Hello Ladies,

How are you all? How does one ululate? Hope I have spelt it correctly. Does anyone have step by step instructions to offer?

    Thanks in advance

I think Nym is talking about ulutations (from the latin meaning "to wail"); a.k.a. the zagareet (spellings vary). I am still learning this art; but, I have heard it described as a "tongue shimmy."

    any advice from the experts?

oh!...I've never heard Zagareets referred to or called Ulutations. I thought it was a spelling error. My bad.

how do you even pronounce ulutations?

    It's "ululations" and it's pronounced "ull-you-layshons" - to "ull-you-late".

Hold you mouth slightly open and rounded. Waggle your tongue from side to side while making and "ah" sound.

The way my teacher taught us:

Say "La-la-la-la" very fast, and pitch your voice high...

My side to side zhagareet is very Turkey gobble'ish. I do the la, la, la trilling that Zorba described.
