Hello Ladies,

How are you all? How does one ululate? Hope I have spelt it correctly. Does anyone have step by step instructions to offer?

Thanks in advance

I think Nym is talking about ulutations (from the latin meaning "to wail"); a.k.a. the zagareet (spellings vary). I am still learning this art; but, I have heard it described as a "tongue shimmy."

any advice from the experts? :)

oh!...I've never heard Zagareets referred to or called Ulutations.:lol: I thought it was a spelling error. My bad.

how do you even pronounce ulutations?

Hold you mouth slightly open and rounded. Waggle your tongue from side to side while making and "ah" sound.

The way my teacher taught us:

Say "La-la-la-la" very fast, and pitch your voice high...

Ha, thank's Shahrahzad! I always thought it was pronounced "you-luu-late" :D
Can't do it very well though...

My side to side zhagareet is very Turkey gobble'ish. I do the la, la, la trilling that Zorba described.
