oh wow it was like a double blow for me seeing that
a one-two punch of negativity for both belly dance and hip hop cultures....
i guess i will start with the music... in defense of the music i love...that was just pure garbage... a disgrace to even call it music, as it is just trash.
as for the belly dancing... i was disappointed but not quite surprised. i feel like saide and kaya have been heading down this path of "commercializing" belly dance... werent they just on a reality show not that long ago? its interesting to see this as acceptable by some; i just posted some comments on this forum on the topic of promoting belly dance as exercise and how it might ruin the cultural/art aspect of the dance (which i dont agree with)... but to me things like this ruin the cultural/art aspects of the dance, by connotating belly dance with this type of hyped up sexualized display.... things like this are why belly dancing is still associated in some people minds with stripping... what a disappointment.
