Thanks Mouse and Gwinity, I thought that's what you meant! I learned that step from Cassandra Shore and she called it the Samiha. Keti Sharif demonstrates the Egyptian Walk in her videos. Since she's from your neck of the woods, I guess that's the terminology used Down Under!
Yeah you can put a shimmy over it,and I've walked backwards with it too.
    Thanks for the info!

Just imagine if everyone in the world was a bellydancer: Everyone would be doing their chest isolations while sitting on the bus, people would egyptian walk around the grocery store while pushing shopping carts... Oh what fun!

yeah Keti's version with the hip down movement is the one I know. Samiha sounds much more exotic though

    hi Yasmine

the egyptian walk is when you walk, you move your hips fast. Like walking and do the hipslift on each hip.

What a cool video! It seems like they are walking at around the same speed as an egyptian walk, but the hip work itself is faster. I'll have to learn how to do that!

    Default Egyptian Walk etc.

Hi Loubna, nice vid. Actually those movements remind me of the Ghawazee hip moves. Obviuosly there are two separate moves that share the same name. I guess in the UK and Australia, the Egyptian walk is a more accented move, whereas in the Netherlands it appears to be a quicker hip move. Interesting!
