Is there a difference between Egyptian and American oriental styles in terms of using the legs to drive the hips v. using the hip and ab muscles to drive the hips?
Amy there is a differance in how AMoriental and Egyptian is done. When I learn from a AMoriental teacher everything was with legs and glutes. Only belly rolls and undulates were abs. With Egyptian most everything is done with abs with legs as support but not the drive unless bigger accesnets are done. Like the big hip circle or large figure 8. Then again there is NO floor work done and no backbends either in Egyptian.
