a) the woman is horrible, and if she advertize her self as a teacher she should get all the critique of all the bellydance world, no mater what, and no sympathy at all, this kind of "teachers" are bad for the community, even if just one person goes to their classes, for me its considering "stealing" money from students

b) specific group of people, doesnt show the level of a country in dance or on anything.
Example, while in Greece there are more than 20 dancers at this time with high teqnical and in general professional level, last week was the judge for the National Acropolis Dance Contest, with 600 "dancers" competing in the bellydance category... and surprise, even in the "pro" category didnt found ONE i mean ONE !!! that's over medium level. Was so frustrated, kicked out of the competition more than 200 dancers, because of no bellydance teqnick (was latin with greek chifteteli moves) so if someone was in the audience this was the idea that he/she would had over greek bellydance scene.
I believe that in bellydance world exist various paralele worlds lol

c) age have nothing to do with the dance ability.
I've met many students in my classes from 6 to 70 that was excellent and many that had what is called "psycical dyslexy" and for these students/people oriental dance is a cure and medicine as it sychronize different parts of the body.

d) cheer up Liz you are a hot chick and such fun person ;)

I don't know which world is more of a turn-off for me - fantasy panto bellydance, or the mega-competition scene.

Can you imagine a fantasy panto mass bellydance competition...aargh..aargh:shok:? Get the image?

I like the sound of that - two depressing things merged into something hilarious. :D

On Ice... with a compulsory Isis Wings round!!!! To Entrance of the Stars, please...

Oh definately Isis Wings and I would also propose a Rachel Brice wannabee section so we get lots and lots of pops and locks.
Then we could have an audition for those who wish to take part in a tacky rap video.;)

Lots of Turkish drops while spinning poi balls (or whatever they're called) and some snake-inspired floorwork would add to the general ambiance of class and good taste.

Vile. Little kids mimicking that sort of dancing in fun is icky enough, but some adult training them to dance/dress like that - what goes on in some people's heads?

I don't know, but even young kids watch MTV and music videos (as mentioned in another thread) and learn how to dance from them ...

Once I had to teach a belly dance workshop for a class of 8 y/o girls, lots of them Moroccans. They were so disgusting in their dancing, doing scary Christina Aguilera stull from that video were she some sort of stripped.
8 y/o girls!

Well I was until I saw 7 year old girls dancing like mini-hookers:(

It is this video, isn't it?

IMHO they are at least 10 years too young to dance like that..
Makes me sad.

I must admit I'm not up to date on MTV - haven't seen it for several years now. But I guess you get the point anyway.. put in whatever TV channel playing music videos..

Talk about Pedophilia Central!! :shok::naghty::mad: What in the hell are people thinking of when they dress little girls up and teach them to dance like this? I think those parents and show producers all need their butts slapped in jail for child pornography.

The girls look about 9 or 10 yr old, not 7 but even at that age it is just so totally wrong and inappropriate for their age. Yes they can dance, but surely they could have them dressed more age appropriate and some of those raunchy moves are just totally off. Shame on the teacher & parents.:naghty:

I agree :shok: and the person who posted it on youtube (even if it was critical view about it) too many stories of what happens to children's images.

I'll be honest, children will dance and do funny stuff, sometimes inappropriate, because they've seen it and try it out without realising it. Normally it's perfectly innocent and families will have a laugh about it. But it it will never be shown in public or promoted. But to dress them up and teach this is just beyond belief and after having to spend days in lectures about child safety issues from work training.. I could honestly murder whoever came up with this. Are they insane???

Mind U Britney Spears first video and lyrics?? it seems to have gone downhill from there.
