Elfie, your poem is absolutely beautiful! Thank you, I teared up reading that.

I have finished all the wrapping and all is under our small tree, and await tomorrow morning. I know some families gather and open gifts on Christmas eve, we have always had our gifting time Christmas day.

Hope everyone gets their christmas wish gift
& from the Southern hemisphere ... Merry Christmas to all & to all a good night!

Good morning this Christmas Day (8.30am here in Australia)

Here is my Christmas day contribution, a modern version of the nativity, very cute! Have a wonderful day everyone.

... and a poem written by me in about 15 minutes yesterday, I was thinking about my childhood Christmases, my Dad who is no longer with us and the fact that the 2 youngest members my smallest grandbabes (4yrs & 18 months) will be with us this year and what fun we have all had buying (way too many gifts for them LOL)- my older son and family live at the top end of Aussie so we don't see them often.

Christmas Day
Memories of Old & New Ones Created!
******
It is the day called Christmas
Early morning sunbeams dance around the room
The tree, around which the family is gathered - glitters & gleams
And the air of excitement is so thick
One could cut with a knife and serve it with cream
The tree's quite a picture with presents piled high
Dad calls out a name passing each gift with a wide grin
The children with eyes a-sparkle & hair tousled from sleep
With ever widening smiles
Tear open those lovingly wrapped gifts
As quick as a wink
The room where they sit is coloured
With gasps of pleasure and squeals of delight
Parents quietly smile at each other amidst
Laughter, chatter & pleasurable sighs
A child's voice calls "look what I got" overriding all ...
Just for a second or two...
The cacophony returns voices continue to rise and fall
That special day has finally arrived
And amidst the joyful mayhem pets bound & leap
Creating havoc in wrappings cast wide
Forget about breakfast as chocolates and sweets
At this early morning hour are devoured
Without an admonishment from Mum - not even a frown
She just smiles lovingly as she observes her brood
I quietly close the door on Christmases past
Look through the windows of Christmas renewed
Ahhh all is perfect this Christmas morn
For all is awry as it should be -
With a smile I drift back to my home
Sending out to the world
A wish
Of blessings & love -peace to all mankind
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good time!!

December 25th - Christmas Day!!!

Merry Christmas my friends!

I wish you joy, peace and love for Christmas Day and all the days after!!

The treat i have prepared for this day is full of dancing, inspired by a Turkish friend of mine!

Here we have two videos of the same song of a Turkish musical concerning an Ottoman lady who had.... seven husbands, all together!! (without of course any of them knowing about the other 6;))

So, first we watch the... dancing style (old Turkish and lady-like)

in this video i like the main singer's dancing style and her Ottoman-inspired costume (very much!)
YouTube - nükhet duru "tanr?m"

in this video i like the women group's dancing style and movements

YouTube - Ayten gokcer-Yedi (7) kocali hurmuz

aaaaaaaaaaand in this video, well, Goblins are already on the upperworld!

YouTube - 7 Kocal? Hürmüz - Yaln?z Kullar (Tanr?m) Performans : ?evval Sam & Nurgül Ye?ilçay (modern version of same musical)

and here is the translation of the song:

My God, do not leave your slaves all alone,
You only lean on solitude
It is difficult a situation to stay without a mate, without a friend
You only lean on solitude

That love who came, that existed
It was a pomegranate in your hand
The two of us in one shirt
Its collar was tight
My green vineyard grape
I kept my eyes to the road
Who came, who left
To whom I should say a word

My God, do not leave your slaves all alone,
You only lean on solitude
In this world suffering has come to us
You only lean on solitude

I have seen homes with a husband
Similar to stretched arrows
I have seen homes without a husband
Similar to drying rivers

My God, do not leave your slaves all alone,
You only lean on solitude
For nice and ugly moments, you show again your favour
An appropriate husband for each one of us

To those who have yearned
Who were left widows while young
To red roses who got pale
Give give give give

To birds who flied to the blue sky
To those who grew dry
To those whose body remained bent
Give give give give

Hey, God, to me three!
Three will not be enough, five!
Five will not be enough, seven!!
Give give give give
Give my God, give

As you may see, this is a.... religious song!! Perfectly fitting the day!

I hope you enjoy the videos (and all this dancing knowledge they bring to us). Now, we will also meet at the Goblin calendar, for... another treat waits for you there!

Meeeerry Christmas! Hohohohohoho!

Merry Christmas from Wyoming at 1:06 am! My daughter, husband and I actually had our Christmas package opening on the 23rd since my daughter had to work all day Christmas eve and must work three hours Christmas Day. When she gets home from work, we'll share the afternoon with a young couple and their baby daughter since they are 1000 miles from family. On January 1st, my son and his family will be here and we'll do Christmas again with them.:D

Thanks to all who contributed to this thread: I have loved every word, every musical note, every laugh! NOw: on to the GOBLIN thread for the twelve days of Christmas mischief.

What a wonderful calendar! Here christmas is almost over as we celebrate on the 24th. But then there are family dinners and stuff, so no risk of going hungry the next few days

I've hung up my tassels and hung up my zills,
give me a hot cocoa I've got me the chills.

The sashes are stored and scarves in their place
My lashes are frozen and there's snow in my face.

The skin that I show I now choose to hide
A belly dancer in winter should really stay inside.

Keep your shimmies warm!!!
