The science of Flexibility is complicated. More is involved with your "inflexible" muscles than just that muscle group. You need a little bit of knowledge as to what muscle groups factor in to the specific area of flexibility you're looking for.

So true. Flexibility also involves how stretchable your tendons and blood veins are as well. It does not just involved muscles.

For example, when standing up I can bend at my hips and reach the floor with my hands without bending my knees. However if I sit down and try to reach past my feet it just does not happen.
