Thought Provoking Belly Dance Costumes: the good, the bad and the hideous

This could be really fun after hours at outdoor festivals in the summer. Or a way to be in a late-night fire show without using fire, haha. They are quite expensive, though.

The ruffles already feel dated to me; they've been around for a couple of years now. Maybe it's time to wrap them horizontally instead of vertically for a different look.

Says the gal who never recovered from the circle skirts and coins era.

where can you buy them? I want one! Do they do non silk as well? That would be more robust and less expensive I guess

I'm I from the post coin and circle skirt era, but I never recovered either :) it's just a timeless look that always works. I think some other things are going to stay too, trumpet skirts for example. Any other ideas of what will stay?

Yikes! I was considering buying that (or a similar) purple floofy one. Not sure what it would do to the shape of my lower body. I have short legs and am more on the booty-licious side of things. Maybe with heels it would look okay.

this is fashion now, it seemed to have come from russian designers, but.... What do you think? It's too floofy for me, i prefer very subtle frilly edging, i guess this will be out of fashion next year

80 I love floof!!! :D

Dunya, there is a costume designer on Facebook named CraveNile who makes these LED wings. I was quoted a price of $185 for one pair I was looking at, but I'm going to have to wait until I get my medical bills paid. :(

LED wings sound like a really fun idea for the local shows I'm involved in. One's a huge stage production and I think that the led wings would be a major hit. I wonder if I can add them to a costume so that all my dancing shows up too?

The LED wings are getting cheaper and cheaper, I might have seen them even cheaper on EBay if I remember right. But since I don't dance, I probably wouldn't use wings (and no space to dance with wings at home), a LED veil is smaller and easier to store, plus easy to take with me if I happen to go somewhere I would use it, and I could even use it in the home as lighting haha.

a LED costume haha, I have seen videos with those, like in the edge of a big circle skirt, that's fun, but full costume, a bit over the top maybe haha.

I haven't seen this movie in years but I recall thinking that after that line, it was all downhill.

That green Bella is gorgeous... then again, I can hardly stay objective when it comes heavy costumes in greens and blues
