Default Male teen interested in belly dancer

    Hi everyone!!

My name is Roberto, I'm 16, from San Diego, CA.

I am a huge fan of Shakira and she has had such a great impact on me <3

I really like foreign languages - I know Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, and some Arabic

I am really interested in belly dancing. I was even a belly dancer for Halloween - the only guy to do so at my school

I want to learn the moves of both Shakira and Jamil the belly dancer

Yes - I know Shakira's dancing is not real belly dancing but I want to learn it - but all the tutorials I see are hard to follow bc they are for women.

I wish Jamil did a tutorial session :P I have no idea what to do.

Male Dancers - Bellydancing by Zamoras
Bellydancing Instruction Videos - Male Belly Dance

Just thought I would drop a few links before Zorba got here.

Welcome, you're in good company. The best way to learn is to just find a teacher. Best of luck.

Jim Boz teaches in San Diego: Jim Boz - Middle Eastern Dance

And, David of Scandinavia also teaches in San Diego: The Ethnic Dance Academy

Both enjoy an excellent reputation as teachers and performers.

Hi, Roberto, and welcome! We have wonderful male bellydancers here, and men who are wonderful contributors to bellydance, whether it be supplying costumes, an extensive knowledge, or encouraging enthusiasm. You'll make lots of friends here.

I see that other members have given good advice on teachers etc. Good luck & do try to go to a teacher i'm sure you will love it.

Dance is like glitter, it not only colours your life, it makes you sparkle, you find it everywhere and in everything and it's near impossible to get rid of. (unknown)

    Hi there

In Mexico, I know one very good male dancer in there, but I don't know where he lives.

His name is Al Rachid, and you can watch his videos on YouTube.

He also has fan page on Face Book, so you can contact him about classes. Hope he lives near you, and help you.

Don't bother with the above mentioned video - I cannot in truth recommend it.

    A review:

Zorba's Video Reviews: Learn The Art of Male Belly Dancing

Otherwise, you can take lessons from just about any teacher, male OR female. The moves are the same.
