Kinda off topic for my own topic....
What I liked best about Laura Mvula (lauramvulaVEVO - YouTube) was the classic/Jazz-Blues influence in her music. Since then I have found some more singers that share that influence though each is unique.
Norah Jones - Norah Jones - YouTube
Duffy - Duffy - YouTube (especially her music from Rockferry)
Melody Gardot - Melody Gardot - YouTube
Caro Emerald - Caro Emerald - YouTube (a really unique lady)
Grace Woodroofe - Grace Woodroofe
There is also Adele of course (Adele - YouTube), I found Laura Mvula when I was looking for singers similar to her in the first place.
I was wondering if anyone knew of more artists with this sort of sound or influence?
Hmmmm.... Laura Mvula, Duffy, and Adele are from the UK, Caro Emerald is Dutch, Grace Woodroofe is from Australia, Norah Jones and Melody Gardot are from the US... This movement in music may have originated in the UK but it seems to have gone global.
