I will have to try making the coffee liquer. I have made limoncello and genciana this year, that was a fun experiment. We used 70% strong grappa as alcohol, and added sugar and water later on because the alcohol was way too strong of course. We didn't add sugar syrup, the sugar melted in fine. Never done this with coffee.

This thread reminds me of when hubby was my bf and we were living in Griffith. One of his co-workers gave him several litres of home-made grappa which he filtered and refined down to about 1/3 of the original quantity. A friend of ours came over & he & I decided to drink our way through the lot in one evening. We're both lucky we're not blind - that stuff was over 90% proof by the time hubby had finished processing it!

No toes stepped at, Shanazel!

First of all, I would like to share a picture I took at sunrise (app. at 0940) 4 days ago while driving home after an early morning gig.

Now, Dec 1 I promised to be more dance related in my next calendar entry, thus I'm giving you

The inquisitive Egyptian style oriented belly dancer's wishlist

Dance and culture:

Music and culture:

Dance:

And of course, if you want to read about bellydance around the world, this is the book to look for:

If you do Egyptian style, feel free to add any musts I've forgotten.

If you don't do Egyptian style or do different styles in addition, I challenge you to sign up for the calendar and share your wishlist of well researched literature and useful resources.

Well I dunno what day it is anywhere else, but here it's the 5th so its MINE, all mine...

I've posted over the top Christmas lights before... so that's not chronic lack of imagination, not at this time of year, oh no, it's a tradition. This goes on a bit to start with, but I LOL'd when it all kicked off at 2.10 ish. After a few drinks it would probably have me giggling happily for ages  (and annoy everyone else, yay).

:D

I recognize that house! We drive over to watch every year. They have a local (very local) radio broadcast of the music so the streets just fill up with cars as everyone tunes in. I think we watched for a good fourth minutes one year. :D

Oh, and if no one posts the link to the webcam of the Estonian forest with the wild boar this year, I will do it on another day. :D

Aww, it is so awesome to see that our nature-cams are getting more and more popular worldwide :) Do post it one day!

I already can't handle the 70%! I would die if I drink the 90% hahaha! We add water to the stronger ones.

Okay, it is now officially (as of 4 minutes ago) my day in my little slice of the world. And since I've been waiting for days to share this with you all...

A little back story first. My great aunt and I were very close for my childhood. When I went to uni, we sort of drifted apart because I was young and stupid & thought she would always be there. She passed away about a week after my now husband and I hooked up and I've been carrying around a horrible burden of guilt ever since. So tonight I will share with you her favourite hymn, which she always played at this time of year.

And to follow up my maudolin tale, I'd like to share with you all a virtual hug!

And since I'm on the other side of the world. ;)

We don't have a fireplace so we've been using this video instead. It's not quite the same but it helps. :D

Wow... I did not watch the video, but just the idea of a five-hour recording of a fire burning blows my mind...

Here are some photos of our Christmas market. It is an annual event taking place at the oldest square, and in the evenings with the snow, it really looks like winter wonderland!

Tallinn-Christmas-Market.jpeg

The market does not only include shopping, and food, and a Christmas tree - it also has a stage! ;) So, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is a cultural program going on there. They invite different dance studios, music schools, choirs, hobbyist acting groups etc. Including belly dance studios! Here is a clip from 23rd November, with an Estonian oriental group Asmarah (they danced a saidi, a popsong, a khaleegi, a pop solo by their instructor, a dance with assayas, and an Estonian Folk-Debke mix!)

Another studio, Zahira, will send their student groups there this Friday - I will definitely try to go and see it!

First up, something delicious. I made these delicious boozy truffles for my sister (and non-boozy versions for my nieces) last year and they were quite popular.

To distinguish between the adult ones and the kids ones I rolled the kids ones in marzipan instead of chocolate sprinkles. The kids version substituted orange juice for the alcohol and you can easily make these gluten-free by choosing GF rice bubbles, cocoa and alcohol.

Boozy Truffles

Ingredients
• 2 cups crushed rice bubbles
• 4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa
• 1 tin sweetened condensed milk
• 4 tbsp alcoholic beverage of choice
• 1 cup dried blueberries rehydrated in alcohol, chopped
• 1 cup chocolate sprinkles

Method
1. Simmer condensed milk until slightly reduced & golden
2. Mix in dry ingredients, blueberries and alcohol
3. Place in fridge for 30 minutes to set
4. Shape into a ball and roll in chocolate sprinkles
5. Place in the fridge to harden

And if that recipe doesn't give you diabetes, this video will.

How strange, half a side of the video is cut off, the right side. Odd, is that a new glitch?

Yes, I have this problem, too. I think it started when Salome moved the advertisements that were cutting off part of the forum posts. Videos have been messed up for me ever since then. I think I got around it by clicking on Post Reply with Quote and then copying the URL of the video.

It only happens when the video is in the very last post on a page. That's where the ad is placed and it affects the showing of the video.

Yikes, yesterday was my day and I forgot to post! I chose Dec. 17 because it is my birthday, but I ended up having a busy day full of rehearsals and dance class and a special lunch out with my husband. So I apologize. Here are some musical offerings a day late:
