My new student and I held our first private belly dance lesson today. She speaks little English but is taking ESL classes at the college. I speak little Spanish but I've hauled out the dictionary and verb
conjugation books again. She can't see and I can't hear perfectly but we had a blast today. Amazing how much can be communicated in a few words, some laying on of hands, and a ton of laughter. It is all to her credit; was she not so good natured, outgoing, and eager to learn it might truly be an uphill battle.
I need to contact our mutual friend who I thought was totally insane for suggesting this endeavor and thank her heartily.
