Why Belly Dance is Waning in the UK?

What we need to ask ourselves is, what does bellydance have to offer that those exercise and dance forms don't?

That is the big question. I hope to have a good concise answer to this before I start teaching again. Most of the selling points people traditionally used for advertising are so generic, and not unique to bellydance at all, that they do the dance a great disservice.

...because the class had been established for a few years, they had an established repertoire of dances which I wouldn't know.

This isn't a class: it's a troupe. Was the teacher actually advertising the class as such? If so, then it really is weird to turn away students.
