    Default Emirati culture

There is currently a big heritage festival happening in Abu Dhabi. I was there a few nights ago, and I was very very impressed. Here are some of my thoughts, photos and videos (locals dancing!) in a blog post. Enjoy!

Good post Safran. Great to see Emirati culture getting some exposure.
Just to add to your excellent post, there's also the Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi in November. This is the Festival that includes the competition for the 'Best Old Land Cruiser' (now that you're living in the UAE you'll understand the irony!!!!)
There's also a heritage and auto festival at the 300m high Moreeb Dune in January with lots of heritage related activities plus of course, all things auto related! The car racing up the dune has to be seen to be believed.
PS Just one typo in the article's description of Al Ardah '....and dance with cans and swords...' No doubt the word should be 'canes'.

I get this vision of dancers with assaya in one fist and a can of Coors in the other...
