How do you deal with it when someone you care about passes?

Any tips would be appreciated.

My deepest sympathy to you, Ariadne. The only way I know to deal with the loss of a loved one is to put one foot in front of the other, take care of practical issues as they arise, cry when you need to cry, and seek out someone to talk to if you need to talk. Take the time you need to grieve and don't let anyone else tell you when you should "be over it." Sending a PM to you.

It takes 2 years for "the worst of it" to pass, but you'll always have that wound. It scabs over, but its never really gone. I lost my father 8 years ago - I rarely cry anymore, but get wistful at times.

Lost my dad 2 or 3 years ago. Not happy that I have to travel to other part of the state to visit the grave. Then lost some friends in the past year as well,so funerals are pretty sucky! :(
