Here is the holiday card from the President of Estonia (his cards are always the coolest! - for example, this year's card has references to a big pop music festival, our first satellite sent into space this year, an alphabet book that every child gets on their first day of school, the silhouette of our capital and even vintage spice cans!)

And here is a gingerbread decoration idea that I plan to make every Christmas, and never get round to... Maybe you'll do better than me
What you need are round gingerbreads, marmelade balls, glaze (made out of egg whites and powdered sugar), and sprinkles to decorate. It is so wonderfully simple, check out this link. It is in Estonian, but the photos are self-explanatory.

December 22th, first day of new spring!
Two treats:
First, one of the deep-feeling musics i have got to know till now, Karagümrük by Stelios Petrakis, based on old Anatolian sufi music. And yes, it is bellydanceable!

Second, an Inuit tale, where conclusion comes through a spell done with a [very special] drum, singing, and i am persuaded, there is a lot of dancing included too! The Skeleton Woman as narrated by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.

Everyone is on FB these days in their own little gangs. Yawn.
So, as promised (and rather earlier local time than I was expected - washing machine repair man has been and gone and it's not yet 8am :shok
- the Estonian Wild Boar Cam.
This was posted last year (by Safran?) and it's now traditional for my festive internetting to have a background of Estonian forest sounds; click over quickly if there are interesting noises! No snow as yet but it's windy there this morning. We are promised Wind and Torrential Rain here this afternoon, on an Amber Warning which means prepare to do something, apparently. I will go and get the shopping ASAP, then prepare to stay indoors and make biscuits.

Ah.. The wild boar cam. I think I saw up to 28 wild boars there at the same time last year (including piglets). Sometimes also venison(?), humans bringing food and birds eating some of the food...
