Stay safe, folks!

I've spent the past week in Toronto. Mostly 24 C and a few showers, 33 C and high air moisture when I left on Thursday. I'm NOT used to the latter.
Back home now, 19 C and some summery rainshowers. Fresh air, close to no pollution and feeling lucky to live where I live.

Overcast, windy, 80 degrees here. Gotta run out to my son's place to water bovines, equines, and fine feathered fowl, not to mention feed the dogs. College National Finals Rodeo finals tonight. I got tickets from the college in a drawing. We've had rodeo folks coming into the museum all week. One of them was in the school of agriculture at the college I went to the same time I was there. I don't recall him, but our paths surely crossed at some point. Small world.

Cloudy and cool at 50 degrees. Won't hurt my feelings if the clouds extend clear to Colorado since i have to drive back this afternoon to pick up son and grandson at the airport. I've been gone so much this spring that my garden looks plumb ragged. The roses all look good, though. Maybe after this trip, I'll be home enough to rectify the weed and grass invasion.

This is a special weather statement from the National Weather Service in Riverton.

* WHAT...Potential for strong wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph due to showers and thunderstorms moving through the area.

I think they underestimated wind speed. If I put on a billowy dress, I could probably fly from here to the Nebraska border without flapping my wings once.

Not quite weather related, but we had a mass shooting here on the Fourth of July. It was a beautiful day but everyone was inside as the shooter didn't commit any kind of suicide but was on the run to commit another mass shooting in another state nearby. So when they finally caught the shooter, most of the day was over, other festivals were cancelled and only a few places had fireworks. A beautiful day weather wise ruined by a deranged shooter whose daddy got him assault rifles when he was under 21, and he had several red flags. Of course, his family "saw nothing" even though previously he had several types of knives and threatened to kill his family and himself, but then daddy buys him assault rifles. SMDH.

Best line of the day from a man who has a way with words:

"It's so hot here a couple of hobbits just came by and threw a ring into my office."

:ROFLMAO: Man, I wish I'd said that instead of him. I feel wimpish whining about temps in the 90s when my family in Texas is experiencing temps over 100 for days on end, but I'll get to feel better about myself this winter when they whine about the temperature falling below 70 and I'm outside in shirtsleeves sweeping snow off the front porch.

Southern and central Europe are currently experiencing the possibly worst heatwave for 200 years according to a headline I read the past couple of days.
Up north where I live, it is quite the opposite and lately we've been making jokes like
"Hey, have you heard the weather forecast says it will be 20 degrees this weekend? 10 on Saturday and 10 on Sunday."

But I am not complaining as long it isn't too wet as well (i.e. no floods etc). Rather this cold and not too wet weather than long lasting heat waves, wild fires, extreme electricity prices due to low water in the reservoirs etc.

Just came back from a Renaissance Faire and we baked. By Saturday we were breaking out the electric fans and the ambiance could go hang. It is HOT! Utilities were double the usual just to pay for air conditioning.

Very hot in the UK today (max 100F) and tomorrow (max 105F) (where I am). It's a dry heat though (makes a change in Britain when it can be warm, muggy and cold at the same time) and there is a breeze so it's not really too bad -at the moment.

I hope you’ve recovered and the temps will go down soon for you. Although I’m from NY, and I love hot summers, I’ve never experienced 104F as I’ve done today -in England! Oh how I used to lament the cold dull English summers, lol.

I did like to go to our closest NY Ren Faire, but they keep changing it up with weird themed weekends, like superhero or time travel weekends. I guess they’ve got to appeal to the kids.

in England I’ve been to only two medieval/Renaissance events -one was a jouste which I enjoyed very much. The other was a ’Robin Hood’ festival, in Nottingham (yeah) and I thought it was so so. I couldn’t believe that not once did they mention Maid Marian. That was so weird to me. But I did see a hurdy-gurdy for the first time and I have really wanted one since then.

ETA -I should have made this more relevant to say that I remember seeing belly dancers at the Ren Faire and they were very good.

I've heard that Europe hasn't experienced a summer this hot in 200 years! I hope they get relief soon.

True. Central Europe is getting a relief this weekend (if the weather forecast is to be believed), but Spain and the Mediterranees will still be very warm the next week as well.

Northernmost Europe is still rather cold, though hoping temperatures will maybe touch the 20ies this weekend.

Overcast and cool at 71 degrees, a welcome change from the heat of the last week. I can't recall the last real rain we had. Everything is drying up. Had an electric storm a couple of nights ago with nothing but sound and lightning that started several fires around the county. Fire crews are kept jumping this time of year.

Last week the humidity was so thick, even the A/C couldn't keep it out. At times like these, I'm glad I don't have to worry about any pets.

Finally! Its NOT raining. And temperatures are getting slightly up again (i.e. approaching the 20ies) this weekend.
I attended an outdoor theatre yesterday evening. 10C, rain and rather windy. 🥶 Some say it is the coldest summer in 43 years.

No rain here. Keeps getting clouds, but any storms are thunder and dry lightning, good only for scaring my Mia dog and setting prairie fires. 85 degrees and 20% humidity here right now. Barring all unforeseen circumstances, this time tomorrow I will be climbing off the plane into a temperature well in excess of 100 degrees. I will probably melt between the airport terminal and the car, so if you never hear from me again, you'll know what happened.

It’s still raining and I am thrilled, we need this so bad. I’m hoping it’s put out all the local fires as well, knock on wood.

We've had some rain here but not enough to justify the heavy humidity, which is making my stomach do flip flops. I hate heavy humidity.
