WHERE oh WHERE do you buy your CD's? I have found some online...but can't seem to find them locally? Am I looking in the wrong places?

I've searched larger stores like Target and such, but with no luck.

Would best buy have them? Also, what do I tell them in the store, when I'm searching, what type of music is it called? Instrumental Arabic?

Thanks!!

Thats not a stupid question at all!

I buy a lot of my music from Dahlals, there is a really great selection of cds there.

When I do go to a store to search for Arabic music I usually start off in the 'World' section, I usually only find really popular stuff like Amr Diab or Natacha Atlas though at stores (if any Arabic music at all). Ive found a few cds at my local FYE, but have never had any luck with Target or anything like that. Most stores will order cds for you though, so if you get an idea of what cds you want, you can got to the store and have them order it for you.

Or, just type the words "Arab music" into the net.....

Very few stores will have anything in stock... but, depending on where you live, you might find some things at these places:

Barnes and noble and/or Borders (only if they have a CD section within the store...)

Best Buy (depending on how big their world section is)

Specs music (once again, depending on how big their world section is)

and Virgin Megastore (there used to be one very close to me and they had a little more variety than those mentioned above but you may not have one within driving distance).

Now, mind you, these places don't have a whole lot of variety and some of the better stuff will have to be purchased online, IMO. Also, check your local studios. Most will have a few CDs for sale on hand (at least they usually do where I live).

There is a small independent store in my area that does actually have more than a couple titles, believe it or not. There is a pretty large dance community here so they have stuff in stock. So does Borders...

If you have a store by the name of Electric Fetus in your area, that would be a good place to look, I just discovered the belly dance jackpot in their music selection. They have a HUGE world section!

Hi rachy....In australia we have several Music Chain store who sells arabic/middle eastern Musics, One of them is World of Music Store, I am sure near your Town/City there will be few stores like this who stocks world Music. You can ask them to get the particular music you looking for, In the larger shopping centre sometime there are world sections for cds and dvds, only problem is that they all stocks only popular music or the known musician. so it limits the varity. for online shopping there are so many websites who sell great collection of arabic and middle eastern music..you can try the following links....

http://www.cduniverse.com

http://www.aramusic.com/htmls/dl720.htm

http://www.maqam.com/

http://www.musicstack.com/

and here is a recent article published in my website , where to find and download free Arabic Music.

I don't know how traditional you like your bellydance music, but there's quite a few pages of selections at Amazon.

I used "bellydance" as the search phrase and got:

these titles.

Fusion, modern, tradional - seems to be a little bit of everything!
