Pardon the ignorance of a new, new newbie....what is "GC"?

    Default Bicycle hips

I know this move, but don't use it very often. I learned it as a vertical circle on each hip, alternating, as if your hips are pedalling... a bicycle! You can obviously reverse it too.

The only dancers I've ever seen use it a great deal are a troupe of Lebanese-style dancers, so I guess maybe it's used more in Lebanese style bellydance??? Perhaps Meissoun could tell us that.

Tenica - about your universal voculary. There is a yahoo group called bellydance_workbook which started with a similar aim. There hasn't been a great deal of activity on it for a while, but it might be worth having a look. Also Cassandra's pages at http://www.middleeasterndance.homestead.com/index.html has a huge vocab of bellydance movements, with different name variations as well.

I'm marveling at the broad spectrum of dance style and costume encompassed by "Tribal"! I'm also seeing the terms "Tribal", "Urban Tribal", and "Tribal Fusion" bandied about across the web as though they were interchangeable - but your comment on the Spanish Tribal Dancer thread about her being more Fusion than Tribal leads me to believe these terms are far more distinct than this humble newbie has thus far understood.
~~ eek! ~~ I'm realizing this is a bit of a "thread hijack!...I will Copy/paste the lion's share of this comment on the Tribal, ATS or Fusion thread!

That is exactly what I learned as Bicycle Hips back in the late 1970s from a Turkish dancer. Start at the top of the vertical loop, if the hip falls fwd, around, down it's plain bicycle hips, if the hip falls back around and down it's reverse bicycle hips.
It's nice layered with camels and undulations.
