Hey everyobody (especially Arabic speaking everybody:lol:)

I've found this song by Amina called El Hantour, it kind of has a shaabi feel and I'd like to use it for just that. Would anybody have a translation or written lyrics to it?

I hope somebody can help. If there's anyone willing to translate from the song I can upload it to 4shared.

Thanks many many many times in advance:pray:

Yes, Hantour is very popular shaabi song in Egypt and even in other Arab countries as well. It, too, is from a Egyptian movie.

Hantour in the name for carriage, the types that horses pull.

The chorus sings tyrgn, tyrgn.. which is the sound for "running horses". The one you teach for kids to do.. In Finnish it's koppoti, koppoti. Do you understand? Like the sound people make with their mouth to sound like the horses hooves.

Anyway...there is a tranlsation of the lyrics on Serpentine's website - Lyrics - al-Hantour

The lyrics here don't fit perfectly on the Version of Amina. Yesterday I sat with the translation and the song and heard and red several times. The beginning is like in the song, but after the whole clip-clop part the sung lyrics become different. Just the last two lines of the translation again accord to the song.

Is there a more precise one for Aminas Version ?

Dear Hanan,

I'm a little confusedand I wonder what you mean. The translation on that page seems precise enough. All parts of the song are there, just that the author didn't put in all times repeating the same lyrics, and I think maybe here and there is a "wa arkab el hantour" extra or missing, but you can make out that much when you read the lyrics and hear the song. Everything is really there.

I think more complete than this is not possible or you should write it out for yourself, which wouldn't be too hard if you have that translation and the actual music.

Is something else off? I just listened to the song reading the lyrics and believe me, everything is there..

Yes, El Hantour is definitely among da most delightful belly dance songs in my book. Hv a watch, a sing & a dance ... while learning some Arabic ... the fast-track way ... and you can pick which girl you wud wanna see dancing ...

Okay, it's only my best Romanised effort. To be honest, I don't understand most of the words, but that only adds to the mystery & the wonder of it. Makes it even more exotic, like.
