Darling Eshta..how old are you if you don't mind me asking..and quite !!!!
    it made you giggle
My point exactly we older dancers don't want to be giggled or sniggered at!

To tell truth I don't like cutesy names some people give to their groups. whatever age they are.
    Bellybooties,sillyshimmies etc
Ah well I just had my humour gene extracted perhaps .
I admit I am just too serious in loving this dance.

Elder Bellies will bring a whole new dimension to cane dancing, hmm? And perhaps even introduce a new prop- walkers! Imagine the name possibilities for troupes of old ladies: Dancers in Decline, Habibi Hags, Daughters of the Descending Sun, Upholstered Oldsters, Desert Stars of the Geriatric Ward. Perhaps we could all perform in the Has-been Hafla. Oooh! Oooh! Another cool idea! We can make a subgroup that would be even more student specific: combine Elder Bellies and the class for "larger women" mentioned on another thread and have an offering for plus sized ladies of a certain age. That will make them feel very special. Stigmatized and segregated, but special.

To be serious I can just imagine what my "Saga" ladies would say to be if I tried to segregate them..it would be rather fruity and .... apart from the fact their teacher is 61,difficult to justify.
I suppose if I were asked to do class for more senior dancers that's fine but I keep looking at my class and trying to spot the justification for NOT making this dance all-inclusive.
For those of you who can look at the Elder-Bellies photos on a thread about mature dancers on Bhuz and tell me why we can't stand up with you youngsters!

The idea of a troupe cane number with proper heavy duty walking sticks is terrifying.

Cairo Crones, putting the hag in hagallah.

L'ing my AO at the Four Tenas... (hopefully not too hard )

Replacement hip-drops is my favourite, putting the hag in hagallah a close second. I had to explain to my other half what I was laughing at earlier! I don't think he quite got it
