One where you end up falling off the stage
(Sorry I've been trying so hard to resist that. I'll be quiet now.)
I really have to laugh at that, because before I read your post, that is exactly what I was thinking!

Dancing of Dream 1 1-8-08 - Video
Cicciolina / Adabel Guerrero Dancer Joel Ledesma.
Ilona "La Cicciolina" Staller, italiam ex porn star / ex politician, was the original contestant, but after she broke her rib she had to left the competition, and Adabel Guerrero entered in her place. It's still unknown if Staller will be coming back to the contest.
The tags were Spanish, the commentator spoke Spanish.... (Googles a bit...)
OK, here you go. Bailando por un sueño (Argentina)
Scroll down to Season 5 (Autumn 2008). It must have been Arab week.
There is plenty on the web about Ms Guerrero, but I doubt there's much on her bellydance credentials.
Guilty as charged, if you ask me...
To be perfectly honest I don't think it really matters if it is belly dance or any other "dance" style, it is just plain vulgar and offensive, and by the way I am not a prude in any way shape or form. It just offended me to the core and made me feel ashamed to say I am a female.
I see no problem with this type of performance on a adult channel late at night, but not what looks like family viewing.
YUCK EWWWW!!!!!
...I could not really watch the whole thing.
Dear Tribal Belly Dance Malta,
Well..... it matters very much to me if someone perceives this as belly dance, not only because it was vulgar, but because it is in no way connected with the culture or spirit of belly dance, and because the quality of the actual physical dance was just plain poor.
Regards,
A'isha
I just looked at this and apart from being shocked like everyone else, I actually think they might be trying to do an Oriental themed piece here!
Here are the clues, wings?.., his trousers? her bra and belt? the dodgy side camels she did, some of the moves which look like someone trying to dance ME style... distorted yes, but I am not sure there is such a dance style as this??
I may be wrong but I have seen things like this before.
There was a dancer in Manchester who was very well known for performing in family restaurants in this attire.
She had a nice bum but it soooo not OK to do this. She is alot more covered up these days and went from this to a sort of tribal fusion thingy.. very confusing.
I have seen 'wild wings' like this many times before, and all these dodgy moves and more.... all trying to pass as MED.. and worst still, being percieved as so by the audience.
Did anyone see the article in the Sunday Mirror yesterday... not sure I want to confess to reading this rag but I was away at the weekend and someone had it.
It was about Alex ferguson and Manchester United Football club having an Egyptian themed party costing fifteen thousand sterling.
Last years Man U's party caused a storm when they invited prostitutes and took part in orgies etc. Sir Alex banned them from having another party.
The scandal is that after last years party performance... this year...they are going to have belly dancers!!! :shok:..'scantily clad and gyrating all over the place'.
Does anyone know who has been booked to do this?
They should be warned.
I think it will be hilarious as I dont know anyone in Manchester who will actually be prepared to do this so they are going to be very disapointed!
that is unless they have booked lap dancers dressed in Belly dance costumes??
When it becomes more about the dancer than the dance.
It's hard to verbalize, but it has to do with a Look at me exhibitionism feeling vs. Look at this beautiful dance. I don't mean taking the dancers personality out of a performance, but the dance should be what is presented by a dancer, not the other way round. This kind of attitude makes me very uncomfortable when watching a performance.
Am I making sense at all? I'm not putting this very well
