Default Jenna's DVD The next level

I have Jenna's dvd the next level, transitions turns and layers
I really hate it, because I don't like the way she dances.
I feel like her interpretation of the music is so offff
    like so off
i watch her performing and I think it's so bad , yes she can execute the moves with her body perfectly but I feel like she can't move with the music well
she choreographs the music as if it were, well western music...

I'm so happy I didn't pay a cent for it.
I will learn turns from her though
there are some good things about the dvd, that is one of them...

I have it and like it because there is a lot of information in there - even though I agree with you about the interpretation. It is also good to practice transitioning between one move and the next - which you get plenty of.

She isn't my favorite dancer, but her teaching videos are good- very clear, concise direction. I have less objection to westernized interpretations since I am an old style AmCab girl myself, but her interpretations tend to be stiff and formulaic. I suspect over-choregraphization, if that is a word, as the culprit.

i have this dvd, and i find it very instructive in terms of the exercises.
i don't particularly like the way she dances, but for instructional purposes she is excellent

i don't look at her vids for musical interpretation per say, but rather to understand the mechanics of the movments and to execute them well.

DITTO - to all of it. though i do like that her drum solo choreographies on the heartbeat dvd aren't as busy as some others i've seen.

I've only worked with her drum solo dvds which I loved so I only have good impressions of her. I wonder if she has any videos on YouTube? I did learn an awful lot from her drum solo videos.

I actually liked the choreography on that one. It reminded me a lot of Yousry Sharif's more recent ones. A little bizarre, but still kind of cool.

To second Mya and Greek Bonfire, I think her heartbeat drum solo DVD is nice.

The way I see it different DVDs have different purposes. One DVD may be better for technique, another may be better for interpretation. I find that hers are good for technique.

I really like the DVD, as mentioned, it really shows the mechanics well so that you get a clear understanding of what you will be doing. As far as musicality, well, for that, the ball is in YOUR court. I'd love to see her do a fan veil DVD! Ever since I saw this: ‪Tanna Valentine & Yoshina "Fighting Fish" Fantasy Bellydance duet from "The Zoo" show - fan veils‬‏ - YouTube
