    Default Shows in Bangkok

    Hi Lovelies!

It's been a long time since I've written. Here's some pics from the last 2 months of shows at Lebua Bangkok. I've been wanting to make a video but my computer is too slow to handle the editing. Editing a video-travellogue is on the to-do list. Hope you enjoy the pics!

It's been quite an intense experience, what with the political coup in Bangkok, airport closing, tourism down and then the terror attacks in Mumbai. I fly to India in Jan to start The Goddess Arts company and it hit me hard to see familiar places get bombed, people slaughtered and hear my indian friends' experiences.

What to do.... just keep on shimmying... spread the belly dance yum.

    xo Tara

Here's some descriptions for the pics
1- Taiya my dance partner from Canada and me with wings for Cafe Mozu Ad. Photo by Markus Gortz
2- TnT on the elevator- funny to look at when we come in from a hot sweaty trip looking exhasuted and disheveled...
3- Taiya in front of our typical meal for two. It's a bit embarassing when the room service asks if this is just for two people. We love to eat and this was junk food day for me, fish and chips!
4- TnT in silk gypsy costumes and swords
5- Ad in the Bangkok Post for Cafe Mozu
6- Me (in reflection) and Taiya on the 64th floor of Lebua Hotel in front of the Walkway to Nowhere. Feels like a set for a Bond movie.
7- Teasing Ann our manager with a squishy rat on Hallowe'en. We have ou leopard costumes on with silly hairpieces.
8- TnT with Marcello the DJ and his Python Tyler
9- On a paddle boat trip in Lumpini park, we nearly had a heart attack when spotting this 7 foot monitor lizard!
10- JW Gold party night. We did a Gold Shamadan and Wings show. The entire restaurant had been tasting whisky for 3 hours by the time we went on. Hiccup! Very funny audience...

Hi! Thanks Salome! It all worked out in the end...

I'm wondering if this should be in the Performance category instead of Other Dance Stuff.

    Hi Tarabelly
I'm one of the mods in this section. I think it could be either here or performance. If you'd like, I'll move it.

Sounds fabulous Tara and the photos are great! Is there bellydance classes in Bangkok? or do they just bring in dancers?

I love Thailand, spent a year there back in 2001.

There is a great school here run by my friend Apple. I have taught workshops there as well Kaeshi, Kami Little, Tamalyn Dallal. The main teacher Tuk teaches Tribal. They have Haflas and do shows locally for tv, fundraisers, etc.

For shows in the 5* hotel and big corporate events, usually they bring in dancers.

Rumpuree is the name of the school in Bangkok.

Were you working in Thailand for a year? Where did you stay?

I lived in Pai from 2002 to 2005.
