    Default hottness

Hi, to me it seems like...getting to the innermost of yourself. - it's the like when you see an elderly couple holding hands with a sparkle in their eyes... you know their eyes are filled with love...and even though they aren't the people the were when they met they see eachother that way. So hotness isn't what someone else can label you with or perceive in you... it is what you give to the dance - an honest picture of you when you really really like yourself; even it you're not built like some young slender 20 something perfect creature... cause in yourself there is that perfect sense of being and the honesty of that shows in the dance. Okay another simile(think that's the word I want) diner desserts...sometimes there is that piece of lemon meringue pie... all high topped and perfect looking (chocolate cream pie does it too) but you get it...taste it and it's all sugar and nothing else...now you get a piece of one of those pies that somebody who cares about you makes and it isn't pretty and is lopsided and all that...but it is delicious and real. opps didn't mean to go on like that - Creaks

The funny thing is, you think you need to do or be something when the mind is in control. When you let go, being an instrument, you are just as sweet, hot or whatever, as you can possibly be, no need to be anything else than you are at the moment. It comes so natural when you let go of the need, you are just what you "need" to be.

Another thing i have experienced: When being the instrument, you feel so humble and grateful for having the oppertunity to share your dance and passion -an attitude many of the great dancers have. When focusing on me, it is all about wanting appriciation and applause, being better than the others, jealousy of other dancers...i can go on and on.

You don't loose yourself when letting go of the ego, as aicha also said. You know deep down that you add something of your own uniqueness to the dance, that no one else can, like a piano and a violin have their own unique sound, and then you feel even more grateful and humble for having the chance to share this uniqueness. It becomes all about joy, passion, having fun, being in the flow and sharing, as kashmir, pheobedances and marya said. And you can litteraly feel the energy spilling out of you like a fontaine. Sometimes it really make me cry with joy....

    yes, yes, yes!!!!

Excellent analogy Creaks (?!). Delicious lopsided pies beat the synthetic perfect-but-meh ones every time.

    Dear Alosha,
Well.... in reality, it is not just ALL about being you, it is about respecting the dance, understanding that belly dance is an ethnic, cultural dance, tapping into the dance as part of a larger cultural picture and doing all you can to learn what that is all about and how it manifests in the music and the dance, etc. etc. etc. Being you is one aspect of how you will manifest that but is certainly nowhere near the whole story. I hope we did not miselad you with our advice!!
    Regards,
    A'isha

Yes, don't forget, ,you still have to practise, pracktise, practise and learn technique, steps, the culture, music understanding etc to be able dance.

    Default hotness

Hi Alosha, and the others for liking the lopsided pie... us lopsided pies out here have one major thing over all the picture perfect pies, we're honest pies just the good honest and natural ingredients with no artificial artifices... and yes that does mean you have the basics down. Creaks
