Hey I just wanted to post a video of the Afghan Dance. Its a beautiful dance style. I wish i could learn it. But I can see both East Indian and gypsy style with in Afghan dance. Maybe some Armenian traditional to

Unfortunatly the Afghan culture was nearly whiped out by the taliban. Its ashame they destroyed that beautiful culture and country. Russia also had invaded Afghanistan a bit before the taliban did. I want to support these dancers, and music because from what i see they are working hard at making a comback. I ask all others to do the same. And if your Afghan or know afghan dances keep your culture alive teach others make an instruction dvds.

Any how heres the video for the beautiful and once forgotten dance. I think its called tajiki

I can't watch them right now (later I will) but how similar is it to Egyptian belly dance? I have a friend from Afghanistan who likes belly dancing and even recommended music to me :)

If you like Afghani dance, I'd also recommend that you watch Classical Persian dance. They are similar... in fact Mariam (the lady in your first video) does Persian as well, there are some wodnerful videos of her dancing it.

They are beautiful dances. I wish there was someone in my area who taught regular classes in one of these dances.
