Gel push up bras?

What are your experiences on working with them for costumes? I've got this V.S. gel push up bra with the wire sticking out that I never wear and that I've decided to use for my latest project (yes i have 3 other projects still, whatever!) and I've pinned the fabric to the bra already. I know I need to be careful, and I've worn gel bras for when I go dancing at the nightclubs so I know it can withstand lots of movement...

should i go ahead and remove the gel pads from the inner casing of the cups, to be on the safe side? or do you think it would be ok the way it is?

thanks ladies!

I have never used a bra like that. I wonder what would happen when you embroider the bra, would the gel leak out if accidently punctured? A water bra probably would

I'd certainly remove the gel cups before taking a needle or pin anywhere near the bra. When covering bras, I make the darts as I apply the fabric to the cups, then ,as long as the darts are not costume features, I actually sew the darts straight through the cups to hold the fabric in place. I can imagine what this would do to gel packs!

I don't wear push up bras- any more push up than I have naturally and my cup would runneth over.

I do that too, it makes the fabric stay in place real well. I even sew the embellishments in the same way that way I can be sure they stay on properly. I also put buckram in the cups to make them more sturdy, but I think that couldn't work with a gel bra.

I wrote two articles on how to make a bra, maybe it helps:

I haven't had experience with a gel bellydance costume bra, but I have experience wearing gel inserts in my costume bras, and had two Janet Jackson moments. -_-;;; Both times were during dress rehearsal in class, so I'm thankful it didn't happen on stage. I plan on taking my costume bras and sewing little pockets on the inside cups to keep those naughty inserts in place, and out of site.
