Heading to Kentucky, almost

I'm very happy to announce that I have accepted a position as Ballet Director at the Three Rivers Performing Arts Academy in Evansville, Indiana (just across the Ohio River from ol' Kentucky). I will be making my living, at last, entirely from dance! It's been a long time coming, and though it's not in the market area that is LA, there are major metropolises within three to four hours: Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Louisville all have world class universities and major arts organizations including dance and opera. Evansville also has one of the top rated liberal arts universities in the midwest, and doesn't have LA's freeway snarls, housing prices, phoniness, etc., etc.

And in this age of easy video editing and upload, and internet access to video clips, if you have the dancers, the space, the camera and the software, you can choreograph just about anywhere and get your work out to those who count the most- those with $$$! (presenters, promoters, theater directors, etc.)

They already know I do belly dance in addition to all the other styles, and are open to my teaching it there, in addition to ballet, jazz, modern, etc. In sum, they are giving me a very warm welcome in Evansville, including an option to buy into the business after two years, so I think I've found a new home!

If you ever consider beginning an English pub (when you're too old for dancing maybe ;)) you have my permission to use the name. I think you should have Mouses' permission too, however ;)

Oh, and you need my permission to have it in England ;) And give me free drinks whenever... and possibly a job if I get bored of mine, which happens a lot.

Lol- I don't think making it a belly dance pub would be a good idea, since Pubs here are a bit brawly, unless it's a quite local.

Actually, now that I think about it, English pubs names have relevance to an area or England in general, like the Red Lion, and The Yew Tree, or The Queen Victoria, or The Woolpack...

Hmm... we'll have to work on that one.
