Biography
Akasha is a professional belly dancer with over 5 years experience. She discovered Middle Eastern dance in 2007 at the tender age of 18 and fell in love with her first dance teacher's style, the beautiful Sitara, founder of the highly acclaimed Eastern Roses Dance Troupe. Akasha spent 2 years in the professional dance troupe expanding her repertoire to new forms of dance and skills such as fan veils and Isis wings.
From the age of 5 to 16 she was extensively trained in gymnastics and enjoyed incorporating ballet choreography with floor work giving her a great foundation for belly dance. Akasha has also participated in many dance productions including successfully auditioning and gaining a lead role in the musical production Westside Story. During this time she was awarded the Dancer of the Year trophy.
As well as participating in musical productions Akasha has also been invited to perform at many belly dance bookings and events including birthday parties, restaurants, care homes, theatre performances and has even been featured in the opening credits of an episode of Britain’s got Talent alongside a the Eastern Roses Dance troupe on a London rooftop.
A deep interest in dance styles of different cultures led her to explore the art of bellydance. She has always been drawn to the mystique surrounding Middle Eastern dance and also has a keen interest in Egyptology. Naturally then, belly dancing has become a way of life for her.
Akasha’s style varies from upbeat Egyptian pop, turkish dance, high energy drum solos, to gothic and tribal fusion as well as the inclusion of traditional props such as belly dance veils, fan veils and Isis wings.
Not only is Akasha a skilled belly dancer but also a talented singer.
