Greetings all. There is a dance series on Amazon Prime titled "Shimmy". Very basic, taught at a slow pace, with a gentle warm up at the beginning. I'm really enjoying it. Tried to purchase season 1 & 2 but can't locate it. Does anyone have copies they are willing to part with? Or know a vendor who still has copies? Thank you!

It doesn't seem to be available anywhere, even second hand, which surprises me. I know it's very popular.

All I can suggest is putting a watch on ebay.

Knew it was going to happen. Logged into Amazon, and this title is unavailable for viewing. Thank you for sharing it with me. Calmly viewing it on my computer right now.

A while back I was happily watching/working out with Shimmy on Amazon. But with my luck, knew it wouldn't last. Wanted to purchase several copies of both seasons (to share with dance friends). Checked Amazon, ebay, facebook, etsy, internet in general, contacted the original vendor, it's out of stock. A kind person on BellyDanceForum shared season 1. The post has long since been removed. However, I have it and was able to enjoy a gentle workout (sans melt down).

Or I could introduce you to "Bianca". She runs a Zoom class every Tuesday nite, combo Yoga, BD, and Bollywood. She will teach you a new meaning of the word "pain".... BWAHAHAHAHAAAA!

Thank you for the offer of "pain" Zorba. Think I'm good on that one (a.k.a. no thank you). Greek Bonfire- I have Aziza's dvd. She's amazing. Currently going through a laundry basket of dvd's acquired over thirty years. Have three piles going. Keep- two dvd's. Local dear friend- two dvd's and a costume in her pile. Hawaii dear friend- just shipped twelve dvd's (media mail, it's on a slow boat). Realized, if I'm not using them, there's no point letting them sit on a shelf (that's Illogical.)

The reason I like the Shimmy (from Canada), it has a slow gentle warm up, and then fifteen minutes of class. Modify the moves to current abilities. (Much older than when I started. Bodies change, abilities change. Plenty of 'I remember doing this. Why can't I do it now?' Insert salty swear words.) But I'm still having fun and enjoying it. So, onward and upward.

Next project- two boxes of VHS tapes, re: Egyptian golden dancers, given to me. Sounds amazing right? Nope. The first video dirtied the VHS heads so I have to take it apart, clean the heads, and put it back together before I can try again. Thinking about calling a local business to see what converting to dvd format would cost.

😂 Not a chance Zorba. The thought of bouncing off walls sound scary for this old lady. Planning to try folkloric dancing in the near future.

Happily own two yards of old Assuit; soft black fabric with silver designs. One damaged area, but for $50 I'm not complaining. (That's what she sold it for and I was keeping my mouth shut.)

2 yards for $50?!?
You STOLE it! Do you happen to know if its "old" or "old-old"? Most of mine is "old", but I have a very small amount in a head dress that is "old-old".

Oh I love your photo! Promise to take a pic of it soon. The fabric is soft and the metal is heavy and shiny (still). I keep it rolled and in a protective drawer.

Approx. 25" wide and 53" long, last owner had created a long tubular dress from it. There are black round buttons at the neckline. Which also explains the rubbed area where the belt would have gone. (It's been years since I took a really good look at it. )

Thought about this all day. Unsure why I've been reluctant to cut it. Someone else already did, so it's in the queue for repurposing.

I'd be reluctant to cut it too - but you gotta! Just think carefully about it and be sure about what you're doing with it...
