I bought a pair of sandals and dark blue tiered skirt to wear to class next week. Now I need to find a top to wear with it. It's a really pretty skirt with panels of lace on the bias.

I bought a dress form! I've always wanted one but didn't want to shell out the money. But I went to Jo-Ann Fabrics yesterday (just planning to buy some braid to sew onto the hemline of a skirt, la la la), and they had a clearance on these nice $99.99 dress forms for $29.99. How could I resist? And I've had a heck of a time measuring the length of said skirt, so it'll be great to put the skirt on the dress form so I can just mark it while it's on a "body."

- Two new T shirts in more interesting colours than the usual boring black. Too many black vests and T-shirts and leggings in the house is making the clean laundry harder to sort, something which is very much against my laundry ethos. And the right colours look so much better. Colour is good.
- khaki trousers with cute ankle zips. Ordered two sizes, the smaller ones fitted best, yay! Enjoys delusions of being thinner though knows it's really that they are changing the sizes to make us feel better. To maintain the cosmic balance however, the boots I bought in a sale a few weeks ago are in a distressingly large size.
- a big Christmas tablecloth (sale bargain :dance: )
- canvas tote bag with cute vaguely Japanese print.
- a weird little vintage vase.

I am in the Arkansas Ozarks right now so my big purchase for the week is eight nights in a stone castle built by a guy who lives in another part of the castle. Cost for a gorgeous studio apartment with turrets and battlements: $40 American a night. Even for off season, it is an amazing bargain.

No website. It is called Lacey Michelle's Castle, is just southwest of Omaha, Arkansas about a mile off the highway to Branson, Missouri, and I found it on Flipkey. It's a non-profit that uses rental fees to fund college scholarships for local high school seniors. A really nice couple own the place. He built it as a memorial for his seven year old daughter who died in 1987 but there is nothing morbid about it.

The rates go up in the season but it is still less than $60 per night. No way in hell could I have afforded to stay a week anywhere else in a place this nice. I've had a lovely time and though I'm ready to head home, I feel a bit wistful at leaving.
What I bought this week includes several books on the Civil War in the Ozarks (I've been hanging out at Pea Ridge and Wilson's Creek), an art nouveaux pewter box, a 1930s corded zip bag, an umbrella (sunbrella for me), a turquoise top ($1), a lampshade, and a leather clutch ($1.50). I decided against driving to Prairie Grove Battleground for the Confederate Day celebrations (too many people) and think I'll go back down to Jasper t see if the elk museum is open instead.
