I'm living on Sydney,s Northern Beaches in Australia. I've not become involved much in the local BD scene but there seem to be a few schools spread out around Sydney.

Where in Australia do you live?

Hi MeganJane.

Hi Staranise,

Do you mean the on in November? I wouldn't miss it. I hope to go for at least one of the days and hopefully more. It's a great chance to see some artists and take workshops without having to travel. I see Amera of Ameras Palace and Yasmina of Cairo are also have two tours to Egypt going out of Sydney. I won't be going on either of those next year but hopefully one day I might get the chance.

I'm not an Aussie but I lived in Gympie QLD for 2 years and learned to drive over there and have fond memories of living there. This was before I discovered belly dance.

Hi Dipali, You seem to have a lot going on in Qld. I notice most of the photography of belly dancing in Australia (I've been looking around at that) seems to be taken at events up your way. My instructor tells me the BSD scene in Oz is starting to get more active compared to earlier but it's just a slow progression. Chani

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY EVERYONE!

You know you’re Australian when…

1.You know that snow is a memorable and freakish occurrence. Sometimes it’s even fake

2.You know how to abbreviate every word, all of which usually end in -o: arvo, combo, garbo, kero, lezzo, metho, milko, muso, rego, servo, smoko, speedo, righto etc.

3.You know that Sydney should be the capital, because Canberra is a hole.

4.You’ve ever used the words - tops, ripper, sick, mad, rad, sweet - to mean good. And then you place ‘bloody’ in front of it when you REALLY mean it.

5.You know that the barbeque is a political arena; the person holding the tongs is always the boss and usually a man. And the women make the salad.

6.You say ‘no worries’ quite often, whether you realise it or not.

7.You’ve drank your tea/coffee/milo through a Tim Tam.

8.You know that we are home to the just about all of the world’s deadliest of animals. That’s why if anybody messes with us we’ll get some funnel webs on their faces.

9.You own a Bond’s chesty. In several different colours

10.You feel obliged to spread salty black stuff that looks like congealed motor oil on bread… and actually grow to like it. You’ve also squeeze Vegemite through Vita Wheats to make little Vegemite worms.
