Plan C, or how belly dance saved the day

Today I was scheduled to give a PowerPoint program to a local organization, but the provided equipment would NOT open the intended PP nor any of the other PP programs either of two thumb drives. Nuts. Plan B: a plain slide show on another subject. Possibilities looked good at first, but the equipment would only show three or four slides in a row before the screen went black and a caption announced the next slides couldn't be shown. I could only get to them by closing the program, reopening it, and starting further into the slide show, a process of several minutes. Three slides, then- same thing.

Okay. Behind me, the business meeting is drawing to a close and people are settling in for the scheduled program. More and bigger nuts. Plan C. Definitely needed a Plan C that didn't depend on technology. A whispered conference with a friend to find appropriate music on her phone, and I turned to the group to announce that Today We Are Going To Learn To Belly Dance. And so I taught an impromptu 45 minute program on the history and basic techniques of American Cabaret Belly Dance. It was a rousing success, even with the gals who danced in their chairs.

Take that, Fickle Finger of Fate.

Thanks. I so rarely manage to pull my oats out of the fire successfully that I have to share the triumph when I do.
