...in a series of product reviews for makeup for bellydance? I want to get back into participating in the forum more, and this is definitely one area I know quite a bit about.

Yes! I've been using "the good stuff" for years because it pays to do so. However, sometimes "the cheap stuff" is just as good, but I have no way of knowing.

I’ve only started exploring higher-end brands within the past year (not too much because my income only stretches so far), but drugstore brands have definitely upped their game in recent years. There’s some surprisingly good stuff out there now!

I use 99% MAC and Mary Kay. MK's oil mattifier, primer, foundation, powder, and finishing spray, MAC for just about everything else. I've flopped around with various lipsticks and Mascaras, and use Guerlain Kohl - which is OBSCENELY expensive but lasts me literally for years. Oh, and MK's blush and a couple of their eye shadows, although most eye shadow I use is MAC.

I'm "good enough" at applying stage makeup, but I'm no makeup artist. Marlene from "Makeup Geek" puts out some very good videos, but trying to follow along is a challenge for me. Re-winding and re-playing a 5 or 7 minute video over and over again, 30 minutes later I have a complete mess on my face that looks NOTHING like what Marlene was doing...

Yeah, I’m not a real big fan of tutorials, even though there are some good ones out there. I do like the ones that teach you how to better apply products or show you different techniques, but the step-by-step paint-by-the-numbers tutorials bore me to tears. Besides, I don’t want to copy someone else’s look, I want to create my own!

Speaking of instructional videos for makeup, if anyone know some good ones - why don't we have a separate thread for that too?

I do like Marlene from "makeup geek", she has some great looks one can try. Succeeding, at least for this clueless male, is another story!
