Sharia publicly shamed herself, and if you read the original post, no names were named. though to many it was obvious who it was and she WAS eventually named. The whole controversy could have sparked a really good debate - which some people had started - and would have been a perfect debate for...
Are there any friend on her Facebook who are still active? Any around the same age? They might be able to help better that no. also, great work! This kid of archive work I LOVE looking at. Keep us posted and
A few months ago, there was a semi famous belly dancer caught on camera supporting Trump, and not JUST supporting Trump, but supporting policies and ideologies that negatively effect people from whom this dance originates. On top of this, she also lied to everyone as to the extent of these...
its grand, its not even anything about something we disagree on:
"So I do have to acknowledge that the Wokegentsia are not incorrect to say that Egyptians should be able to do whatever they want with their own culture. If young Egyptians want to listen to somebody rhythmically yelling over beat...
Thank you so VERY much for this, your a wealth of knowledge and i bow to your expertise. And you are correct - when i watched the video, the shimmy she was explaining wasn't the shimmy she was doing or ended up doing, and i found the traveling steps odd too. i DID, however find some videos of...
Thank you, i understand that names are not standardised, But i didn't think what she is "Showing" on how to do that shimmy (ie - knee bends), is not actually what she is doing when she does the shimmy (not sure if im being clear). do you know if that style of shimmy was standard in those times...
ok, so i found this video and its gold in terms of early Amcab. Its possibly the most charming video ive come across. However, i have questions.
They describe the piston shimmy in this video, but it does not seem to be the piston shimmy that Tanya Lemani actually does when she shimmies. Is this...
I liked your approach to this, to say that none of these arguments are invalid is great and I agree with you on 99.99% of this (and I'm not getting into what I don't agree with - its nothing of importance). But i have heard through the grapevine that things are starting to improve. Egyptian...

Sorry I’m late! But i concour!! Lovely voice! I can imagine you as a voice actor too.
Also, what Shanazel said is bitter sweet. You get to know people and never hear their voice online even if you have been conversing for years.
Also! Wooohoo!!! Congratulations Zorba!
If you go to Kay Taylor’s page, she has a lot of information on the various festivals around the place. Where abouts are situated? I’m in Wrexham / Chester
There are a few belly dance only festivals in the UK. I just attended “Jewel of Yorkshire,” last week. Randa kamal was the main dancer, plus many other awesome UK based belly dancers.
You put everything down in my thoughts so eloquently. I Might add that i really enjoy the mixture of ME styles, and that alot of ME people seemed to enjoy the dancing in the fez (theres a great documentary on this too by Roxanne herself. )
Very true, i also think that the Balanat styles were...
Its actually gone the opposite way now (thank goodness), people are appreciating the older traditional AMCAB stuff. however, optically there's only one place that "officially" teaches "it" (even though that's just one method - to outsiders it seems this is they ONLY method . I like the older...
on another thread, Sorry this took so long, but i leave the full video: Belly Dancer Latifa - Belly Dancing You Can Do It - Full Version - 1982 - YouTube
Also, Lafita herself has some great early - mid AMcab footage on her channel like the ones posted here already
