Clips of your teachers performing!

Hello ladies (and gentlemen)! :D
I taught we all could share some clips of our teachers/ mentors performing. It would be very interesting to see who inspires you, and maybe draw some inspiration from each others inspiration.

Ok i´ll go first then. This clip is on my current teacher, Selina Sevil, she´s a mix of styles you could say. She´s teaching both turkish, american cabaret and egyptian. Very talented and passionate!

This is my former and first teacher, Maria. She´s all about the egyptian style. Not as experienced as Selina Sevil but a very good teacher!

What a great idea!

Unfortunatly my teacher threatens bodily harm to anyone who dares to post her dancing to youtube so I have nothing to add but I will still be watching to see everyone elses. :D

I take lessons from Rom Deussun.

Seriously you won't find video's of her online. The closest I can give you is a video from a performance she sponsored.

Sadly I couldn't be there.

Here is a clip of one of my main teachers from a television show app. 9 years ago:

She is also the dancer dressed in blue in the group "Divas of bellydance", but I've taken various workshops with the other dancers in this group as well:

That´s so cool that your teacher has been on tv! I looove that golden costume she had on in the first clip!

She was the first norwegian dancer to dance professionaly in Egypt and by the time that program was recorded she had just arrived back home. She also had a full program focusing on her work in Egypt with interviews and clips from her dancing at various venues*.

*(A perforance dvd with bonus clips from this tv show is available for sale, but it is in Norwegian only..).

I love all her dresses, but the golden dress is simply delicious.

Here is my current teacher, Kaidi Udris:

My teacher doesn't have hook ups to putting her dancing online. Here is her last time dancing with the troupe before she moved to the states.

And for some reason the video is not fully displaying here... anyway here is the link YouTube - Solo

Maybe I'm just too tired to find the code, but youtube doesn't seem to want to spit it out to me- here's a link to my instructor, Elinor, dancing with the intermediates at a recent Everybelly hafla. You might recognize my fancy trousers from the costume support, inspiration, and encouragement thread (which we don't seem to use anymore? Really?). I am also recognizable as the ballet has not yet been beaten out of me :S I think my favourite video of Elinor is this one (from a Cabaret Serpentine performance, I think). Elinor mostly dances tribal (and tribal fusion) but teaches us Cabaret style in class through the rec centre (she also has a tribal class she runs, but I don't think Tribal is to my tastes). I've been studying under her for I guess about 2 years. I take her intermediate level, I have in the past taken her Tribal level 1, I'm about to start semi-regular semi-private lessons to work on my technique. I find Elinor's Cabaret class to be quite modern. This term she's teaching us a bollywood/belly dance fusion choreography.

I recognize this choreography as being the work of my other (more recent) instructor, Bernadette, but I don't think she's in the clip (which is grainy so really it's hard to tell). Bernadette Dawson has been teaching belly dance in HRM for a while and has a very classic/traditional style. I don't think this video is the best example of her work, but it's the only one I could find.

Edited to add: Whaddayaknow, I was just too tired to find the embed stuff the other day! Here's some vids embedded for your viewing pleasure.

Elinor Crosby/Uberwench leading her intermediate class at Everybelly Hafla Summer 2010:

Elinor in Cabaret Serpentine(?):

Older video of choreography by Bernadette Dawson (Genies of the Mist). Unsure who the dancers are:

Ohh great idea for a thread!!!

So I am in the "self taught" category. My first actual introduction to bellydance movement was via watching Shakira and reading that she studied bellydance which resulted in me googling it because I thought it looked pretty cool. Came across Ansuya, Rachel Brice (thought they were both great but still wasn't convinced lol), Then Maya Abi Saaid (spelling) and then finally Natalya Strelchenko, my first real bellydancer love lol.

It was this video of Natalya that made me go "Wow, I want to dance like her." I genuinely was just so amazed with her. So watching her as my main inspiration I taught myself. I mean I've watched hundreds of dancers online but my main sources of inspiration and learning have been Natalia Fadda (Strelchenko), Kahina of Brazil, Saida, Didem (while I don't love her dance style, she has some really cool isolations and overal I like her lol). And recently last summer saw Dariya Mitskevich on youtube and added her to the top of my inspiration list lol.

So in a sense I consider these women my teachers:p THey are the closest thing I've had anyway.

Okay apparently I can't embedd anymore. I am taking the embedd code from youtube and then wrapping the youtube tags around it but it isn't working:(
YouTube - Natalya Strelchenko, Russian Bellydancer

And Kahina

It doesn't work to do it that way. Only copy the numbers in the videopage's url and wrap the Youtube code around those. Like this:

(YOUTUBE) sRv_HhzifsE?fs (/YOUTUBE)
I used (...) instead of [...] to get the code to show.
There is a longer explanation in the thread called "please read before posting" in the Youtube section.

Oooh, i really liked that routine to the Warda song. I LOVE that song. :)

It seems to be lots of dancers here doing tribal styles. That is something i´m totally unfamiliar with. I´m a conservative raks sharkist myself, hehe. Maybe i should try it some time? Looks kinda cool.

The full embedding code doesn't work anymore and for some of them even the numbers don't work, very weird. Tried to embed for bellydance Oz this morning and tried every-which- way & it just didn't want to show up, so gave up!

That's weird Mosaic. Was it the video in this thread? I have always done the numbers-method and it has worked for me every time. Not sure why it is mking trouble now?

Anyway, this is a cool thread. Nice to see your teachers and inspirations.
I have posted this before of my first and one of my current teachers:

And here I found a video of both of my current teachers and their troupe. They are the two dancers in front, shown from around 1.10.

My first "teacher" was Jillina, as I didn't know about any instructors in my area for about eight or nine months after I wanted to learn. So I bought all of her videos first, mostly by accident because that was the only bellydance instructor the store had. We all know how wonderful she is!
