I suspect I am the only belly dancer in the world who hates wearing the stuff.
Oh no you're not! :D
My lips feel so dry with lipstick on and when I remove eye make-up I alsways feel like I've lost a lot of eye lashes.

In private I prefer as little make up as possible - I only put some kahal on the inner side of my lower lids but I am a mascara fanatic: a good mascara always saves my day, lol. So I only go with these two in day-to-day life.
To compensate I put a bit more on when dancing. This is the moment where the little girl playing with her mum's make up stuff comes to the surface again, lol :-D

You can try a little moisturizing chapstick first and then put the lipstick on. I always do that and my lips feel great.

Thanks Salome, I will try that next time.

I hate that dry feeling. I always instinctively lick my lips and then taste the lipstick and know I did something wrong

False lashes

well I don't know anything as far as performances but I think your eyes are very pretty. And I hate false lashes...I tried them myself and never got them to work...grrr.

I prefer to use the individual lashes instead of the strip lashes; they look more natural (unless one goes overboard and indiscriminately sticks in too many). You pick up a clump with a pair of tweezers, dip the end of it in a drop of eyelash adhesive, and carefully place the end against the lashline and hold for a few seconds. Concentrate on placing a few clumps in the middle of the lashline, instead of the entire lashline; it looks more natural. If you have trouble putting them on yourself, some beauty salons offer this service. They can also give you advice on how to do them yourself. :)

a question - what if you stick those lashes on and they look horrendous - like if a spider died on your eyelid or something. Can you get them off? Do you have to wait until the glue wears off and they fall out for themselves? i'm just a little worried that an experiment might go wrong and i'll get stuck with it for week or something.

lol - i lost rep from bellyrolle on that last question but i'm honestly asking because i've never used them and i don't want to make a mess and get stuck with it! Can the eyelash adheisive be removed?
