Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. It might be fun to share traditions here also. At my house, football is a big thing. There is NEVER a holiday where the tv set is not blasting a football game.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I'm hosting this year...so I've just finished my 2nd marathon day of cooking and, of course, there'll be more tomorrow...
Family tradition? Food.
And...trying to get my inlaws drunk so they'll be...umm...pleasant!

Awww...Hopefully they will mind their manners! My in-laws have been known to behave that way also. I have been cooking all afternoon also. I cleaned my kitchen, living room and dining room. Now my house is sparkling clean for Turkey Day! The Pumpkin Pie smells wonderful!

Our biggest tradition for Thanksgiving (besides lots of food) is once everyone has left, all the leftovers are put away and all the dishes are cleaned we break out the Christmas decorations and transform the entire house into a Christmas wonderland! It's soooooo much fun!!

We even have a rule in our house that you're not allowed to sing Christmas songs or watch Christmas movies before that night and then you can only sing/watch them until New Year's. I think it makes Christmas that much more special for us. :D:lol::D:lol::D

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Dear Gang,
Happy
Thanksgiving to all of us Americans. Mark Balahadia called last night to wish me and mine a wonderful Day. He was in the middle of preparing full blown Philippino
feast with his brothers!! I was baking pies for today. My friend Marya, a dancer from Oregon is here for the Holiday, too.
We have a new tradition, about 7 years old, here in our house. My friend Leila makes Moroccan salad to go with dinner. We do that instead of a green salad. It is delicious and goes perfectly with turkey and all the trimmings. Our other tradition is that we make everything from scratch. No store bought pies or bread or whipped cream, or stuffing mixes or anything. ( Of course, its pretty much the way we cook anyway, but it seems more special on Thanksgiving.)
Regards to all,
A'isha

Dear Moon,
I apologize if you felt left out. Usually people get miffed because we all assume all holidays are celebrated everywhere and I did not want to get a lot of "It's not OUR holiday" reactions. In any case, I hope you loved the turkey!!
Regards,
A'isha

Dear A'isha,
Our thanksgiving meal will be in December, because there are no suitable evenings for everyone this month.
I wasn't offended, just joking because we kind of celebrate it too ;)
I don't mind if someone wishes me a happy holiday I don't celebrate. I like it when people wish I'm having a good time :)

Dear Moon,
Me too!! Once I had an Eid party at my house after Ramadan. I had a Muslimeh who was not able to celebrate Eid because she had no Muslim girl friends here, so we just invited our Christian friends. We had a great time! I am willing to celebrate just about anything.
Regards,
A'isha

Pumpkin Pie

Dear Moon,
For Christmas this year, we are doing a Greek Feast. We are having Lamb cooked outside, Greek style chicken, rice, spanakopita and Greek style green beans and salad, an antipasto plate with feta, olives, tomatoes, and for dessert honey cake and sesame cookies. The only food that is invited that is not Greek is .... you guessed it.... PUMPKIN PIE!!!
Regards,
A'isha
