My dream costume

I would so love to have this in black and red. we3bellydance on ebay is the maker. Not to sure I love the top but the 4 point skirt is so beautiful.

Has anyone here purchased from them? I have hip scarf I love from them but since I'm still so new I haven't even really thought about buying a costume. Just my harem pants, a cirlce skirt and top, simple stuff. I think having a nice 4 point skirt to wear over my pants or circle skirt would really make me feel like a dancer and help me get into the music it more. Maybe I would feel less self consious about my belly if I felt like I looked prettier?

I personally love looking at costumes and thought I'd post one I've been drooling over and see if anyone worked with these folks before.:)

That's pretty! I don't like the belt but with a different bra and belt set this would look amazing! I don't know how they are now, but years ago I tried to order and it was just to hard to get in contact with them.

Oh btw, their contact address doesn't work atm. Where did you find this set? it's not on their web site

you can find fabric with all the fancy embroidery... I just got a bunch for $5 a yard. I'll post a pic when i make something from it...

As far as buying from them, it seems you have to buy the whole costume, not just the skirt, so you may want to look on something on etsy

Hi. you can make a nice quick 4 point skirt using 4 large square scarves... lay them out so they make a big square...(to see what the skirt will look like) with 4 points touching in the middle, then - take some elastic... measure about around your hips... and cut about 3 inches less... sew that together then takeone of the scarves by a point and fold over the elastic to where you want it to fall...and pin it; do the same with the other. now the sewing part comes in sew the pinned scarf just below the elastic and if you wish sew the edges of the scarves together or not.

I made one of my favorite costumes with this using some scarves from a dollar store and with a fifth one made a jacket by folding it half and tacking the edges together.
My real favorite would be one of those 16th-early 18th century turkish costumes...

I'm so dence sometimes I never thought about looking for fabric with the embroidery already done. Sometimes it just takes someone pointing out the ovbious for you to see it!

Yes you could buy the materials yourself and do the same design, but still for $200 you get:

1. The 32 yard skirt
2. The 4 Point Nirvana skirt
3. The renaissance Nirvana blouse
4. The Bolero.
5. The hipscarf

I have made a 32 yard skirt once and it is a pain! The amount of fabric you need ads up in costs. You can buy embroidered material, but it will never end up like this costume as the embrodery is done on the costume in this case, so it will look different. I think if you tried to make this yourself the material costs will get quite high and I'm not even talking about the hours of work that go in there! I think it's a pretty good deal actually! (looks like I'm trying to sell it for them LOL)

That's kind of what I was thinking too. Plus I have almost no time to construct something like this with 2 kids under 4, working full time, and running my own business!

I'm thinking like Amulya. I did the majority of work on a friend's bra for a show, and I spent hours and hours and hours hand sewing that thing, and she had at least $50 in materials in it before it was over. I wouldn't do that now knowing there's decently cute bedlahs where she'd get the belt too for around double that, not to mention all the time I spent making it because she was a sewing noob.
