Hang on- just have to look up Casi's page- she's got quite a few vids.

Please also take time to read about the posture, as it is very important for you not to hurt your back!!

How to Belly Dance On Line Videos.

thanks;)
I've studied with videos for 6months. In my opinion, maybe I know all posture & basic bellydance moves. Now I still practice, practise and practise. I learn from Videos on ExpertVillage.com | How to videos, free video clips & more. I want videos to improve.
Could you advise any instructional videos, and which website I could download these guide????
At this time, I enjoy Veena&Neena videos but I don't find the link to download "hips, buns & thighs part":(

Trang, is there no belly dance teachers at all in your part of Vietnam? As others have mentioned here, it really is quite difficult to learn from just video/DVDs. Most of the you tube ones are only clips or bad teaching.

As Reen mentioned posture is very important. warm ups and cool down is also important.

I am sorry you have been unable to find a teacher or DVDs to help you. Do try to save up for a good beginners DVD if it is impossible to find a teacher.

We cannot tell you where to download entire videos from.
also if you have ussed only youTube for the last 6 months, I doubt if you have learnt as much as you think you have. if you are unable to buy the recommended dvd or any of the other recommended on other parts of this forum, I sugggest you wait until you are older and can do what you want. I think I speak for others on this forum in saying that teaching others will not be possible before studying for a prolonged amount of time with a real teacher.

Eeek I think their downloads are horrible- cost almost the same as DVD but no chapters and Gonna play only on one computer! Geez I use my DVDs in at least 2! :shok:

Jenna is the best though!

Hi Trang,

are you anywhere near Hanoi? I just found this article. Says there's a Korean woman, Ara Hwang teaching bellydance in Hanoi, so there IS live bellydance instruction available in at least one place. Maybe you should check it out.

Live instruction is best though, or get GOOD video's (not the crap you find in youtube, and there's a lot of no-good videos out there). After 6 months using videos you might think you know a lot, but you might benefit from a live teacher as well. That way you can either undo bad habits in time or confirm that you were doing it right all along:).

Here is the article if you are interested:

Good luck!

ps. depends on how far you are from the nearest teacher, but if it's too far off you might pop in for a private class for a few hours every now and then?

EDIT: I just found out Ara Hwang has a bellydance blog on Multiply:

Check it out! I think it might be interesting. There's something about a bellydance festival in Hanoi too....

I live in HCM city, so far from Hanoi. :( When she arrived in, I was too happy but I couln't join her class. Do you beleive that everyone who study with her both tell that they are in advanced class or imtermediate class. :( I can't beleive in my eyes.
They proud of that they had time studying with her and first group bellydancers (origin:think:) I have no ideas. They have just studied for less 2years so how could they teach???????:naghty:
I have no idea anymore:shok:

Well Neena and Veena teach some fantasy style, and I also though they were bely dancing untill I saw the real thing! I dont use their Vids anymore, I love Jenna's instruction though.

Check out the youTube vids in youTube forum, you will find there plenty beautiful examples of Belly dance

Best of luck!

I don't quite understand what you mean here. But I think miss Hwang is mostly tribal/fusion styles if you look at the clips on her Multiply profile and of her dance company Watacheza. Maybe that's why her students say they are either intermediate or advanced? Maybe because they are?

I mean, I know around here a lot of girls who go into tribal or tribal fusion have at least a few years of 'Oriental' bellydance experience under their belts before they go into tribal. Might it be that the students already have some experience in Middle Eastern bellydance and now are starting tribal, and have danced Ara's style for 1 or two years? That might make sense to me really.
The teaching is another thing however.

Re: the video's, Veena and Neena to me look quite fantasy indeed. You can check the youtube section for some good clips and also, I think our dear Sedoniaraqs has compiled some really really nice playlists on youtube of good things to watch. I have heard a lot of good things about Jenna's videos though.

Is it bellydance???? Origin???? Right style????
In my opinion, there is too much belly moves, not all your body move. Is it right????

Hi Trang1808
Is it bellydance?
No. There was no connection to the music whatsoever.
Origin?
I would say this is Vietnamese style of Oriental dance. The link that ties it directly to the cultures of origin is missing. The best answer is that it originated with the teacher/choreographer and not to any specific region in the Middle East or North Africa

Right style?
Depends on which style you are speaking about. The dancing in the clips bear little resemblance to Lebanese, Egyptian or Turkish Style. I would say they closely resemble American Oriental(which is a fusion style anyway) using modern Arabic pop as the background.

As far as Neena and Veena, i started put using thier DVD's and found them quite helpful, In fact they ignite my passion for the dance. I don't agree that they represent fantasy. They have a wide variety of videos on the market geared more toward exercise because they are certified fitness instructors. Their instructional dance DVd's are quite good and cover a lot of material

@to Yshka: I don't deny that miss Hwang is not mostly tribal/fusion styles. I mean that these girls, who had just studied with her for 2months, say that they are in intermediate or advanced class now. They open bellydance class and collect about 5$/hours. Maybe it is not expensive for you but it is a difficult solution for everyone who want to learn this new art in Vietnam:( Do you agree that they are bellydance teacher????
