Planning a trip to Greece!!

Dear ladies & gents,
I am planning a short vacation (about 1 week) to Greece in early September. I am going to stay approximately 3 days in Santorini and 3 in Athens. I have no idea which hotel in Athens would be good. One web site says the hotel is great and another says that that same hotel is terrible. I am really confused. Could I ask the kindly Greek ladies of the forum to help me out? I am not looking for the cheapest hole in the wall but Hilton is a bit out of my price range as well. I understand that it's best to pick a hotel in the Plaka area since it is close to the main cultural sites.
Also are any of you performing at that time? I'd love to see a good show.

And its the second time we are having it here in Athens, last year was 800 teachers/dancers from all dance forms from all over the world for a week, with lectures, presentations, small workshops, and ofcourse Performances in the Stadium !!!! and everynight parties !!!
So you better be there !!!

Dear Maria Aya,
Thank you for letting me know about the festival! (I like to plan reeeeally in advance ) I was thinking of moving my vacation to the end of Sept. for the low season, no way am I moving it now! I'll definitely e-mail you a little later on.

Hi Marisha.

You should really try to come at the beginning of September and also participate the CID congress. There are great workshops and performances of all dance styles there. And also I am going to give a workshop (probably about Greek Tsifteteli this time) and do a performance.
As about hotels in Athens: since I am from Athens and never needed to stay at a hotel there, I cannot recommend you any particular hotel, but I can really recommend you to find a hotel in Plaka. Plaka is really the center to everything interesting And Santorini is great. The only problem is, that it is a bit far away from Athens, so maybe it is better if you go by plane from Athens.
If you know when exactly you are coming, send me a private message, so that we can arrange to meet (doesn't matter if you participate the CID congress or not). I will be in Athens 'till about the 10th of September.
