Sadie at workshop in Minnesota

I just saw that Sadie is one of the teachers at this workshop in the Twin Cities in a couple of weeks. While I would love to attend, I have plans to attend a cycle race on that Saturday during the day and I rescheduled my yearly get together with my high school friends on Sunday. Perhaps I can drive to the cities in the evening to watch the performance. Does anyone else plan on attending? Some really good names will be teaching such as Cassandra.

Dear Kutenurse,
While I have nothing to say about Sadie, one way or the other, if ever the chance araises, you should go way out of your way if necessary to take classes with Cassandra. She is one of he most wonderful dancers ever!! I have taken several of her workshops and have always come away with something of value to me. I sponsored her years ago and it was well worth it.
Regards,
A'isha

Thankyou A'isha:)

I have heard wonderful things about her. As a matter of fact, Cassandra does my instructor's choreography for her personal dances. I am not sure I am at a level to be able to do a workshop yet, but I would love to in the future. I would love to just be able to drive down that Saturday night to see the show this year. Do you have any reccommendations at what level a BDer can start taking workshops? I know some have beginner classes. Have a great day.

Cassandra, etc.

Dear Kutenurse,
I think that taking workshops is a choice that has to be made by the students and her/his instructor when you are a pretty new dancer. I would ask your teacher what she thinks. People progress at different rates and there is no set time.

A'isha

Thanks for the advice A'isha! I think I would feel comfortable with a few more classes behind me before I attempt a workshop...Unless it is an actual listen to the lecturer kind of class.:) I would love to take a workshop however someday with Cassandra and with other local dancers:)

You know, it really depends on the dancer and the workshop. You could contact Cassandra or each individual workshop teacher to ask their opinion on whether you should take these particular workshops.

You might also want to check out Mirah's workshop series...they are affordably priced, and all the ones I've attended have been accessible, but still challenging. She hasn't got anything new up now, but there's one almost every month, on Sunday afternoon in Inver Grove Heights. So check it out, the next time you're in town!

Belly dance and Cultural Events with Mirah Ammal

I've been to about 4 of them, and loved every one. Sometimes Mirah teaches, and sometimes other professional dancers/teacher teach their specialties.
